Ok. this afternoon i decided to re-check my timing on the ute as it just didn't feel right.
I threw the light onto it but i couldn't get the light to shine on the mark, even with the timing advanced/retarded, so i pulled #1 plug out, and did the check to see when piston was at tdc. Nothing lined up to the balancer.
I made the decision that the balancer has slipped. The rubber has also gone super hard.
Now i need a new one.
My car is modified, so will I benefit in a high performance one (original one was on there)?
What are the differences?
Cheers.

The difference between a high performance one and a stock one is:

Stock one has rubber dampening and is rated to around 5500rpm.

Performance on is SFI rated but there are two types. 1 with rubber but rated @ 7000rpm. The other is a solid steel balancer with no rubber at all. If you go the solid steel one? Paint it with clear coat before fitting it.

Incidentally, how hard can we consistently rev a Windsor that has a stock bottom end?

i dont know what later ones like au are like but they reckon the rod bolts are real s**t and should be hiffed earlier motors the rev limit was 6250 but in the au theyre 5800 i think it might have been dropped because of rod bolts ,you think it woudve been better to replace bolts with ARPs etc :?:
