It may not be much cheaper but, having only 444lbs set back(ooh an advantage to small bore spacing! ) low in the engine bay would have you in road race heaven! Besides you need another gearbox if you fit a tough windsor anyway...what does it matter if it's got a small block bell or modular one? I think it's going to be a much longer lasting engine too plus it'll be fantastic on fuel!

agree with Pete theyre gonna be a weapon, light ,economical, and have torque to burn right through the range ... unlike the 5.4 l which if you stroked the coyote would end up bein just like the 5.4 with a narrow torque band and overstressed at high revs ... does make me wonder though why ford didnt spend the money on tooling to increase the bore size to 100mm or so which would make the motor more versatile by stroking it to different displacements ...as its a square motor and is really at its limit for being free-revving ... just my opinion?

Ford did spend the money and make a bigger bore engine...the 6.2 Hurricane job but it's truck only unfortunately. The problem with the coyote and modulars is the bore spacing is too small to go any bigger without problems. I don't think the RPM capability is lacking on this square engine because the small bore means the piston doesn't weigh much.
I think it's funny how the media is saying 307kw NA and 335kw blown....if it really is 335kw blown then it must be extremely detuned or something like 3lb boost because I would expect at least 400kw.

I think that is the case. I was told by someone late last week who has seen the engines working that its 4psi.

Plus this 140kg (if true) weight saving from the engine alone. That would make it about 80kg lighter than an equivalent turbo model.

So lighter and less nose heavy. Should be a cracker of a car if Ford/FPV get it right.

Just need to rid themselves of that stupid bonnet bulge that I see the pre production models getting around with.

Its what I've seen reported a number of times, but whether its true, dunno. And I'm guessing it would be for the non S/C version.

But we are comparing a cast iron block for an all alloy block.

I'm also told by this same person that a Boss block is a heavy 2 man lift, whereas the Coyote block is a 1 man lift.

sorry man probably came across harsh, just checked with a mate approx 60kg saving for a n/a
around 45kg s/c.
but there have been alto of numbers thrown around.
these cars a going to be under quoted like the F6 310 and such, for many reasons.

but who cares about fwkw when you have monster torque just off idle.

E series are old, update, well be a whole better car

Each to their own.

Sure they are old, but they are fairly cheap & still a few decent one's around. Second hand parts are fairly easy to come by when you need them. New parts are also not too expensive. A custom project like this would be insured with someone like Shannons for an agreed value that wouldn't really cost much more if any than say a BA XR8 insured for the same money.

Then again, this post might be slightly biased, coming from someone who own's 3 boxcar's.

Cheers

Funny, isn't it, different people's points of view...I'm old, I'll admit it, but in my head I think of my XB as about as new as I'd want to go...XC's I think are a bit too new cos they have new fangled pollution gear  - the newer they get past that point the harder they look to fix, and the less you can (legally) do mod wise, at least thats my perception...my mother drives an EB2 and I fix stuff on it for her but the wires and hoses on it spin me out a bit..wAAAy too complex!! My brother's got a BF XR6 and I look under the bonnet of that and wouldn't touch it with a bargepole (not cos its not fast or anything, but just too complex to fix - I take my hat off to you guys that modify these things..) my brother, like I suspect lots of owners, gets a garage to service it - bit of a pity, I think, he used to maintain his own cars - when he could understand them....
