What the XR & XT wernt muscle cars in your opinion,
Well we are lucky we dont live by your opinion then arnt we.
In their day they were the car to have,
My mothers last GT she owned (XT) was a well known melbourne race driver's ex Bathurst race car,
which was driven to Bathurst for the race then driven home afterwards.
I'd even say her XT GT with origanal engine went harder than her XA GT rpo coupe she had.

what was actually so special about the XC Cobra? What was beefed up, besides having a different paint job.

ask the majority of people and they will tell you that the XW and XY were the begginning of the real muscle cars. Thats not to say that their arent XR and XT's that are muscle cars, but dont forget, the XW was the first "phase" edition of the GT's, which are the real muscle cars

What a joke ONLY xw and xy, jeez.

The XR GT is the begining of the muscle car era in Oz, the 69 - 70s GT's were more popular so in any one opinion it started with the XR GT.

But all were great. I may have not lived during them days but the DVDs sure bring peoples memories to life for me.

My fav is an XB GT in Apollo Blue.

Nothing special at all most were 302 powered many were autos....most hyundais, would eat a cobra of the lights...they were only a way for ford to dispose of the last 400 coupe shells they had as no one was buying coupes, rather than crush them to make XD's.....only the first 30 were the race specials, 351 4 speed and a few extra goodies like thermo fans, black sheel seats etc

These cars (new cobras and FPV GT40's) will demand big $$$ in the future, no one cared about the old GT's in the old days they were only cars, people used and abused them, I had an XB GT that the missus used to drive to work and park on the street in Villawood, no one cared, we ended up selling it for peanuts in the early 90's because no one wanted them, had heaps of trouble selling it and it was still very very good.

Its only the Australian Muscle Car Mag that hyped these cars up and people started panic buying.

PS my XB GT was Apollo blue with sun roof, air con, power steer, the lot

I doubt 31 was one of the option 97's, why wasn't 1 part of the 30???

From everything I read the first 30 were option 97, sheel racing seats (black insted of blue like the other Cobras), oil cooler, twin thermo fans, bonnet buldge (reverse scoop)....but I could be wrong...
