Guys,

The sometimes advertised 'New AU electronic 4 speed auto' that has been seen in 'Just Parts' .... will it fit in-place of the auto in my ED 5.0L? Are they better? Stronger? or wont work as they are made to run from the EEC-V?

Cheers,

I am pretty sure that all the V8 boxes are M97LE or somthing or other, from EB to AU and maybe even in the current BA's.

I think they probably even have the same electrical connections, though sure.

I think the only think that changed along the way was the ECU's

The AU BTR 4 speed auto had a few slight differences with the S5 soleniod (which is adjustable so you can wind your pressures up and get them to shift faster and harder) but they will bolt straight up.

I belive the wiring changed between the models along the way the late el/au have a high side pin control of the gearbox while the later ones have a low side control, i am not sure what it all means, but thats what I have been told, so double check the wiring first.

Hmmm ..... Is there any 'BTR' or 'Ford' people who can provide any input?

I am looking at an engine upgrade next year and a new trans will be needed ... a new one will be the go ...

Cheers
