Well a rebuild of the old one anyway...
Some of you might remember that I completely ruined my original engine when my timing cover developed a hole, allowing (lots of) water into the oil. In the 6 months since it all went to whipped cream, I've been truckin' around with a replacement AU engine between the wheels. However, I've finally got the original beasty back and it's purring along nicely. I was keen to get the original back becuse I'd already spent thousands on the GT40P's, cam and explorer manifolds, not just buying them, but getting them machined and sorted out after they weren't exactly in mint condition on delivery. So now it's all back together with new pistons and bearings, the block's been bored, the whole lot balanced and tarted up real purty like! (Shame you can't see the new paint under all the crap that goes on top of teh engine!!)

I'd been wondering what had happened with your car. Glad to see the new/old motor back to life again.
Did you ever determine what made the oil/ water harden like that? I've been paranoid about my timing cover ever since! Mine's alloy- not sure if the original was alloy or steel? Mike

Goodness gracious, you're not wrong about whipped cream! Its a real shame that these engines are hidden by all the accessories we need these days..

She's all back in the car now and running nicely... Just treating her real gentle at the moment, running everything in gently. Obviously there'll be no time on the dyno or track for a few thousand k's as it all beds in, but I won't be able to resisit for ever!

Looks great! How does it go? Are you running standard maf and injectors or otherwise? Where did you get the engine work done?

mate unless youve got runnin in oil in it.....you dont need to run them in just treat it normal but dont let it lug down in the revs and power away ......you can do more harm runnin them in with todays oils....end up glazing the bores |

Run proper running in oil the first 1500 lmrs or so...
Don't use synthetic oils till 5000 klrs...

Don't worry, no synthetic oils...
Not doing anything too dramatic with running it in, just the proper oil ang going easy with rapid changes in revs... ( Going easy in other words and varying the revs). All the work has been done by Mick Webb at SVO in Ringwood.

Standard MAF and injectors. She's on LPG so the MAF isn't the biggest restriction in the air flow (ditto injectors).

In the process of biulding a 351C ATM. Its not mine. Its a cheap rebiuld. Honed the bores, .030" flat tops (cast), crank had to have the big ends ground, but the mains came up good with a polish/linish. Has ACL Duraglide bearings installed. Put in a Crane cam & valve springs to suit, Rollmaster timing chain set, set the cam timing at 4dgrs advance, Mellings Hi-vol oil pump. On order is the inlet manifold ( Redline Torker), Ford Racing alloy rocker covers, some 2nd hand roller rockers.
The paint is red, but looks orange in the pics.
