well I just got my yella terra roller rockers from Free347, thanks mate, now to fitting them, I've had a quick look, and it looks like I can get away without taking to much gear off, actually just lift off the rocker covers and swap, what torque am I looking for to secure them, and if I can't get hold of a torque wrench, what turn ratio should I use.

well yes, I realise that, when I did my head change I vorrowed my old man torque wrench, problem is it's back with gim in QLD, I don't play with engine that much anymore, but I know that sometime you can get away with a turn ratio to match a certain torque spec, ie figner tight + 1&1/3turn, so anybody know what it might be for the rocker bolts.

I'm after the extra turn specs, you know, if you don't have a torque wrench, take them down till they don't turn easy and then tighten so many extra turns, I don't have a torque wrench handy.

That aproach is OK for something like an oil filter, but definitely not for something as critical as valvetrain hardware. If you don't have a torque wrench, wait until you can buy/borrow/rent one. |

Don't do it, mate... find a torque wrench from somewhere, anywhere. |

$70 will get you a Supatool or Kinchrome torque wrench... You obviously dont use it much, so a cheapie will do the job better than a "I think she's tight enough now" by hand feel.

new question, I've been really slack and just getting around to putting these on now, problem I have is it appears that the bolts that came with them are bottoming out in the holes, now I assume I don't use any of the old rocker hardware,, like the plate that went between the 2 OEM rockers, and if I was to put it under the pedstals it would raise the rocker hieght and reduce there effectiveness, so should I put a washer under the bolt head.
can't get into the yella terra website to find out, does anyone have fitting instructions

i can only find 1 page ,but i know i downloaded the full assembly instr off the website? i thought it was 25ft/lb and you throw away the little bits of channell you should check your lifter preload, easy to get some shim washers from engineering shop if you need to adjust, was something like no less than 1.5 turns preload and no more than 2 with a torque wrench not sure though have another go at the website

I would assume shims under the bolt heads, ala washers, to prevent the bolts bottoming and giving false torques and allowing the rocker pedestals to seat preventing them from "rocking" around just wasn't sure it would be alright, but it's done now and torqued up fine.
