Got a new throttle body from the states and was wondering what you fellas may had done to overcome the reversed cable linkage.
Is there a manufactured plate that can be bought and fitted to revert cable and linkage to the front of the throttle body? thanx |

I ended up with one of these, I sourced another stock TB, I used the linkage off it, didn't want to use my original incase I stuffed it up, took a bit of modding, had to grind down the old and new shaft to get the linakge off and then drill and use a small self tapper into the new TB shaft then made it permanent with some liquid metal but worked a treat.

Thats a good idea, just a bit worried about splitting the shaft, but I will have a look into it and see whether I can get a small enough drill into it. Thanx As for mounting it upside down it wont work in this case thanx anyways. |

I used the smallest drill in my set, the screw was only about 5mm long with a a 1-2mm shaft dia, just enough to give a positve lock, not to tight as to risk stripping the screw, a drop in loctite of the thread as well, but the liquid metal did the absolute securing, I can take some photo's if you like, should be able to get under there with the camera.

I must admit this thread has me a bit confused. I've bought quite a few t/bodies from the states before and never had a problem with reverse action - all that was required was fitting a ball at the opposite end of the cable arm. What throttle body did you buy and do you have a pic?

actually I think my TB was a from an AU, the linkage was smaller and shaped sorta like a kidney, and the cable pull was on the wrong end, it wasn't as simple as swapping the ball to the other end as the linkage was asymetrical and the ball was buldged (sweaged) over.

I see what u mean now. I bought both a BBK 70mm Throttle body and spacer from the states...
Couple of probs. - Spacer doesnt have mounting points for accelerator cable mount - Water flow connector on spacer is on front (not bot on back) - TPS extension wont fit on butterfly rod thingy (hard to explain) - No 'ball' for cable to connect to. I installed mine today, after almost giving up. I bypassed water pipes, so no coolant runs through spacer anymore. Made my own dodgey little bracket to support accelerator cable (which conects to TB, not spacer) Angle grinder fixed TPS problem. Used nut and bolt, and grinded end of bolt to make a 'ball' for accel cable to link onto. See pics below Went for a drive and made a hell of a difference!! Tomorrow new cam/heads (TFS1/GT40Ps) then exhaust being fitted. So cant wait. By the way tyres lit up easy as without brake, and power kept coming on after 2k thru to redline...

These are probs I am lookin at today actually after sourcing another "ball" and drilling new hole and bolting it opposite end of lever which seemed easiest solution. I will have to re route water hoses no probs there and I should be able to get away with longer bolts for the tps extension. I do need to fabricate a new accelerator cable mounting bracket but wondering what sort of ideas you fellas have come up with, like what you mounted it to etc. thanx |

I've been through this exact thing. When mucking around with the spacer I noticed that the bolt holes in the throttle bracket mounting/boss on the US spacer where exactly the same width apart as the Aussie one. So I had the boss cut off and simply rewelded to the spacer in the same position as that on the Aussie spacer - works a treat and cost me about 20mins and $50 to get done.

Or you can just bore out the original 5.0L EGR to whatever size throttle. Its easily done with a die grinder or get a machine shop to do it. Plus it'll look factory
