Most auto places stock K&N at least, just have to shop around to find a decent price. Finerfilters can be ordered online from www.finerfilter.com.au and I am not sure where you can get hold of BMC filters.

Hey boys, i just called city ford and they said the AU3 Tickford XR8 air snorkle is $28.50!!!

Now wats the difference between that one and this

OMG, people are paying up to $122 for snorkles from that guy!!

They are no different to the one you were quoted 28.50 for. In fact the ebay ad looks like a standard (non-tickford) snorkel like on my AU1 XR8.

Yeah, that ebay guy - good on him for fleecing the ignorant - yust get's the Ford ones for $30, slaps on a bit of paint and sets the starting bid at like $75.

i went to auto barn and asked for that k&N panel filter for my 5.0ltr..

THEY SAID $127.00!! Is that normal? Is it worth 127 + 30(tickford snorkle) for a 5-10kw increase in a 1700kg car??? I dont think ill feel the power diff at all with that weight.

Duz anyone know someone that can do it cheaper? Eg staff discount or mate/importer??

Soz another question...

My machanic said if i get the 2 (panel filter and tickford snorkle) it might f**k up the air/fuel ration therefore make the car run sluggish...

How can i overcome this problem? Stock ECU will adjust to the mass air flow or will i have to get it remapped or modified?

$127 isn't bad, the cheapest I have heard of is around $110. And don't count on any peak power increase from these mods, especially not 5-10kw. The only thing you may notice is a slightly better throttle response but even then it may not be noticalbe. That said I do still think its a reasonable mod to do because the filters are reusable so you will slowly pay it off, and every tiny bit does help both in performance and fuel economy.

No, your mechanic is obviously not up to date on modern EFI systems, especially the Ford V8 one. It is a MAF based system which means it can adapt to fairly large changes, people are running aftermarket heads, intakes and cams on stock V8 EEC's without problems.

Even the most basic EFI systems should not require changes just for an airfilter.

Nothing cheap, but I would look at a decent exhaust with some pacemaker extractors next (around $1500), after that a cam change would really liven the engien up but again it won't be cheap at around $1.5-2k.

If you get the Snorkel, it probably will help you economy a little bit, i know it did with my mates EL 6cyl, got another 50kms to a tank.
He was impressed, and for only $30 it payed for itself ina matter of weeks!

Its called Volumetric Efficiency. Your car makes more power with less work, resulting in greater fuel economy :)
