Yeah I'm still here..

Just been a little sidetracked for the last few months but I am getting back into it soon so not a lot to update.

I picked up a new 3G alternator, at 160amps it should keep two battery's happy.. I was going to use the one in the car at the moment but over the last few weeks the little yellow light on the dash has been flashing at me every now and then, so I'm guessing it's on the way out..

Nice and shiny !!!!

One other thing I've found out is that with the fat radiator, the CVR water pump is gonna foul the thermo's  only by about 15mm as well..
So it's back to a mech pump with an electric drive, and that should make the pulley system a little easier to make up as well.

The next major thing I have to do is get the car on gas cause I've got nowhere on the new motor to put injectors.

Good work mate!

Do you think gas would alter what could've been powerwise? and would the heat generated from the blower affect it? I dont really have a clue about gas, just heard its easier for emissions..

nice work mate. Good too see the dream is still alive. 8-)

Just saw one of those powder coating guns on ebay for 79 bucks US.. the shipping was more than that though.. :-)

I'm really curious about gas and supercharging myself.. was wondering if anyone had looked at natural gas...

Well I guess it must be time for an update  sorry about being rather slack in getting this thing finished, but it's amazing how long it takes to make up all the little bits and pieces..

I've decided to go with an 8 rib belt to run around the main pulleys so the first one to do was for the alternator.

Image

The next one I had to do was the main pulley and as you can see here:

Image

One big lump of Al that just fitted over the bed on the lathe.

With a few more thousand revolutions I managed to have it start to look like something that might work..

ImageImage

Image

As you can see an 8 rib for the S/C Alt and P/S and a 6 rib for the A/C.
Now I've never really liked the design of the P/S pump in the fords so unfortunately I went to the other side  and picked up a vn pump.
It makes it easy to mount down where the idle pulley lives on the stock setup.

ImageImage

I also needed to make up a couple of idle pulleys to route the belt and also one for the tensioner, I took the stock ford one and machined off the stud that holds the stock one and tapped a hole to mount my own larger pulley for the fatter 8 rib.

ImageImage

As I think I mentioned in an earlier post that the CVR water pump just wasn't going to work out so I got a mech one with an electric drive.
Well I didn't like the looks of the s**t plastic pump pulley so I made a new one of those as well.

ImageImage

And after I bolt it all together it all it's going to end up looking a little like this.. :D

Image

And thats basically where I'm up to at the moment.
With any luck the posting shouldn't be quite as far apart from now on.
