Well I've had the Fairlane for nearly 6yrs and I was looking at upgrading to a BA fairmont, fairlane maybe XR8.
But if I do that then I'm back at square one with the mods and no cash left. :x
So I've decided to give the lane a bit of a going over

I picked up a spare donk a few months ago and have been tossing up on
which way to go with the mods. First up I want to make as much torque as possible so forced induction of some kind is the way. And of course there is no substitute for cubic inches.
I'm not after a high rever but want to be able to haul the big a** fairlane around a bit easier which means more punch from low down.

So last week I picked up a stroker kit.
Scat 9000 series 347 crank.
Scat 4340 I beam rods.
And SpeedPro Hyperutectic slugs.

Hmmmmmmmm Stroker.
Image

So thats the bottom end sorted.

I ruled out twin turbos due to heat, lag, and the space.

It was down to what type of S/C, centrifical (Paxton, Vortex) which are pretty easy to bolt up, but with kits at $6500 (Pfffffttttt) all I need is S/C unit and I'll fabricate my own bolt up bits. Roots type blowers (Eaton, Whipple) make great boost down low (around 70% at 1800rpm) so thats the type I decided to go for. PLUS you don't see many roots type blowers bolted onto Windsors.

Seeing as I intend to fabricate my own induction system the hunt was on for a cheap S/C, I was looking at an Eaton M90 which are pretty easy to get under $1k, but they rate them 4.0 to 5.7ltr would probably do as the engine won't see over 5k much, of course the preferred would be the M112.

Today I put a bid in on a S/C that came off a Ford Lightning 5.4 (US car) basically an Eaton M112 made for Production Fords, well bugger me!!! I won it for US$455 form a Canadian Ehh. with shipping I'm guesstimating around Aus$800.

This should look pretty sweet if I can squeeze it all under the bonnet. (Think I'll have to do the BA bulge with the respray)
Image

Now it's time to find a nice pair of alloy heads and valve train.

Also she'll be breathing LPG and at this stage I think I'll go with a GRA setup.

So there ya have it so far, any comments, suggestions or otherwise are welcome as half the crazy ideas I've got have come from reading through the froums here.. :o

Sounds good,

Although the '03 Cobra M112 may have been a better choice due to it's side entry for the throttle body...depends on bonnet clearance I guess.

Here is the Kenne Bell kit for the 5.0.
It runs an Autorotor screw type blower and works with your stock accessory drive system.

BTW it fits under the bonnet of his ED. I think you may be slightly better with your NF as I think the bonnet bulges up a little more than the earlier falcons and 'Lanes?
I believe initial runs netted 335kw with 10psi and of course stupid amounts of torque. His goal is 16psi but I think belt slippage is becoming a problem with the stock 6-rib.
He's running 42's, 90mm Lightning MAF, 90mm t-body and TwEECer on a 3DEA EEC.

Wow its really good to see someone getting out there and doing this stuff because alot of people (me included) just talk about doing it without any real chances of ever getting it done.

Good work and good luck.

I hope you're not sticking with the stock 302W block. Im going an N/A 347 setup and am nervous about splitting the block. With a blower ontop of that, you should be looking at the Dart block!!!

Hmmmm I'm pretty sure I won't fit the one I got where they have theirs..

But I'm thinking it might fit on the side under the alternator where the idler pulley is now.. If not on the side then a custom or modified lower inlet and bang it on top down the middle...

I know there's a bloody great dizzy in the way.

Seeing as I'll use my MegaSquirt to power it I might get rid of the dizzy and use coil packs for spark. Take a look at some of what this guy has done
{DESCRIPTION}

After dooling over that go back to the home page {DESCRIPTION} and check out the Twin Supercharged T-bird...

Looking at how they went about doing their cars I thought that doesn't look too hard  But I have access to a mill and lathe at work so I'm sure it'll be a bit of trial and error, probably more error

But first I have to get my double garage up so I've got some where to do this crazy s**t..

Well I was thinking bout it but I'll be happy to get around 300Kw with about 10psi boost or less and seeing as I'm not looking for big revs I'm hoping she'll hold together

All I'd like is to have that 'pushed into the back of the seat' feeling I used to get out of my 351clevo XB when the secondaries opened up.. Hmmmmm Torque as DiscoFrank says..

Plus if it does detonate I'll have the donk thats in it now as a spare while I organize a better block. Hehe

If you change to a cobra blower I have a f150 it would look good on.

300KW is getting pretty close to the limit and you should almost be able to reach that without the blower ;)

Well, if it all goes to s**t, at least Fordmods will be able to start it's photo collection of split Windsor blocks!

Seriously though, this looks like one hell of a project, and I'll be watching with much interest.

Is there any reason apart from the extra 17cubes that you went for the 347cui over the 330cui stroker???

the 347s have some big drawbacks, like the poor stroke/rod ratio.
and the piston pin sitting high up in the oil ring..

with a 330 and the blower you'd still easy make the power you wanted.

This is so true....I suppose the displacement is just too hard to resist?
Anyway NF has what he has....
I don't think you'll fit the M112 down under the ALT, Ive already sized that up on my 351 with the Cobra M112..No go. Even the M90 is tight and you'd need a custom short drive snout on it like the old BBK instacharger kit.
In the guts of the intake is likely the best shot but it'll have to sit high because the 5.0 is so narrow. I'm currently working on an intake for my 351...as it is I'll have to change the injector angle to a practically a vertical position to fit the width of the M112 case in there. The idea is of course to keep it low enough so I don't need to go through the bonnet.
You can roughly see in this shot with the M90 on top of the 351 that it is already a hard ask(injectors won't fit with the rail on) and the M90 does not have the big flange of the M112 either.
You may be able to go higher because you have 3" up your sleeve compared to the 351 height. In this case you may be able to squeeze the stock rail and injector angle underneath?
