Well, Looks like Im going to go with the alternate option.

Supercheap sell a Calibre Thermoswitch adapter for the upper hose - for $19

Then just mix/match a couple of $10 hoses to get from Engine to radiator and your done. Total : $40, and just $20 to replace in the future.

Sad about that... but it will work

Had a look at the Gates catalogue. No top hose for a V8, only the I6!

OK - wwell, I went to ford, and bought the AU v8 top hose after comparing the two side by side.

Physically - not sure about in the bay. I suspect if you have the normal fan (not thermo's) you may have a problem as the hose goes forward before going across the engine bay. Otherwise should be ok. May also require relocation of the coil to fit. Im ok with that as im putting my NC engine into an XF.

Otherwise - I put them side by side - inlet, and outlet in the same place. EB-EF one was $102, AU one was $40.

Worth noting that the outlet on the side is actually at the top of the hose so it will still get rid of air as per the original design.

Pic below. If it fits the way I want then I'll go and buy two as spares now while I can afford em.

Ford part number is ER 8260 D1MC, cost me $44 with the stupid cc surcharge Thats still half the Mackay rubber price

I have to say that the outlet fitting is much better made than the original EB one. I also noticed that the EB one has the same outlet now (much better casting)... makes you wonder why its $60 more.

Hey.. The issue with the AU hose to fit under the hood of my NL is I think it could physically fit but the engine cover wont fit in place..

And your right too... The original hose has a really bad fitting (or like you said, casting) for the outlet whereas the new hoses available have a much more neater and secure one...

I think I will have to go for the EL/NL hose... $104 quoted from one dealer.. I'm awaiting another... Mmm what to do eh!? :)

Ha! Looks like we're in the same boat... I have searched everywhere for this NF/NL V8 top hose and it is purely genuine Motorcraft/Ford!! Plus you're right, be interesting to see how Nigel goes...

Guys. You can always make your own - a couple of smaller hoses and a Supercheap "thermoswitch adapter" (calibre brand) and youd have a serviceable hose.. The fitting you need to screw in would be similar to the ones used on LPG setups for vacuum feedback.

The new EB hose from ford has the newer style of moulding and I would be a whole lot more confident in it, but yeah - this hose looks great. It isnt any higher than the old one. I suspect it might in fact fit under the cover.

Yeah I get your point, but I'd hate to buy the AU type hose and then it doesn't fit... And I'm not so confident in making my own hose :D

I just brought a new top hose from Ford and it cost me $75, i dont think the AU one will fit, take your old one off and go and check it out with a AU before you buy it.
