Nah it's all good. I changed the two bottom and top hose including thermostat and coolant yesterday... I purchased a genuine hose from Thomson Ford.

Guys. The thermostat I replaced doesn't make the engine run any cooler... It's meant to be a high flow but comparing temp ratings on the Tridon website, both the standard and high flow open at 91 degrees...
The part number for it is TT2000-195. (Conventional style thermostat with jiggle pin.) I have found one on ebay TT2023-180. (Bypass style thermostat) The temp rating is alot less at 82 degrees but not sure if it'll fit ? This is the ebay link - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HI-FLOW-THERMOST ... _500wt_928 The Tridon link is - http://www.tridon.com.au/products/produ ... 4057&I=700 What do you think?

You sure you want a colder thermostat in there? - 180 may not have the ECU running optimally... may think the car is just too cold.
The High flow thermostats only work if the rest of the cooling system is up to scratch, and seeing as we are talking 8's here most likely your radiator isnt up to the job. How old is it? - was it a heavy duty one? - has it ever been cleaned out Nigel |

Ive got a 180 degree one in my EL and it runs too cold, economy is crap. Needle sits just below the L.
Ill be putting in a 195 degree high flow one in the next few days and see how that goes.

What do you mean by 180 and 195?

You can get a cooler temp one, 180F. I didnt even realise I had bought that one until I found the receipt the other day. I assumed I had a 195F one. My economy has been crap, and ive tried just about everything, so hopefully the proper temp one fixes it.
The cooler one is certainly way too cold for Canberra, probably only suitable for high speed runs in the NT or a trackcar.

What do you mean by 180 and 195? Fluctuating temps once warm indicates a stuck thermostat to me. I replaced mine recently with he correct temp one and found that the old one was stuck wide open. Did you put it in the right way up? Mike

Maybe its faulty... but this morning i ran the heater up to 32 degrees driving to work and it ran cooler? maybe air was caught in the system? What temp thermostat did u buy?
