I have an NC Fairlane and I am set to drop an xr8 220kw engine I bought a couple of months ago cheap. It's got 150,000 ks on it. Tested fine etc.
My OBJECTIVE IS A RELIABLE EFI 350 TO 375 HP CRUISER FOR NOW. Running stock V8 4spd auto & LSD First off, I need to consider, if I upgrade the 302 to a slightly more aggressive cam, and added the underdrive pulleys could I achieve my goal anyway? I'm now having second thoughts about just putting a mild 351 windsor in. I could part out the hand built 302 and use the upper intake and 70mm TB, MAF, injectors, heads, even the cam etc for the 351. (Will this meet my 350 to 375hp MAX objective or will it blow the stock running gear??) What are the bonnet clearances like on a Fairlane compared to a Falcon, are they better? Should I sell the 220kw 302 motor complete to help fund this build or will keeping the go fast bits and bolting them onto the roller block 351 be cheaper? I will need: A 351 roller short block or engine Sump, Oil pickup Lower intake manifold Gasket sets A Supercheap Auto Store nearby I intend to have the drivetrain strengthened first and then modify the 351 with new alloy heads and stroker kit after I have enjoyed it for a while, or something gives. I'm in NZ so have no emission hassles. Appreciate your advice on best way to go. Thanks.

Thanks, that is most helpful. New hurricane headers are on order and as soon as they arrive a new exhaust will be installed, ready for the transplant in October.
Just to make sure I get the right exhaust setup for this vehicle, should it be twin 2 1'2" right through or twin into one?
