I have a BA XR8 Ute and I recently changed the oil and filter. The filter is a Z516 i think from memory but it is a lot smaller than the Z9. A lot dearer to buy as well. Can anyone tell me if the Z9 will fit the motor instead. I wold prefer to have a larger filter even though I do change the oil regularly on all of my cars at 5,000ks.
I know a lot of comments will be why bother if you change it at a low k's but peace of mind is why I do it. I have only had this car about 2 weeks and I am not up to date with BA series engines and specs yet. Cheers |

I don't think it's the best idea to fit a filter that isn't specific to the car.
It must be a late model BA to have the Z516 on it, so I'd run that. At work (local mechanic), we tend not to change the filter (as in change the type) unless they are wrong, or want a genuine filter fitted.

just run the filter that is recomended, it must be doing its job and if you change the oil at 5000kms i wouldnt be too woryed, changing your oil at 5000 kms is a good idea, i find by then oils pretty well stuffed in any car and an extra 5000 kms on that oil cant be too good lol

Can't hurt.
