Out of interest paul, what visc you running in it?

Never trusted elec gauges... had a mech one in the EF for a while.

Mmmm... fun senders to get to if the AU donk is anything like the E series :)

I did have this problem with my oil pressure when the car got warm to hot & since the thermostat was removed my oil pressure stays the same as the car never gets hot.(thermostat will be done SOON)

I haven't had a look yet, it hasn't been driven much lately.
One thing with my car Ben, it never gets hot, whether it's 5 or 40 with ac on, the temp stays the same.

when i drove down to melbourne that time i looked at my oil gauge at around half distance and noticed it was moving like a tacho in a burnout comp, so i pulled in at a servo and checked it - nothing wrong, whilst down there all my oil seemed to dissaper (managed to find that leak when i got home), i changed the filter and toped it up with some thicker oil 15w-60 i think, it hasent done it since.

oh yea a 12hr trip with little - no oil at 130-140 kph and its still running, gotta love the Fords :-D

My clevo has lower oil pressure at idle running magnatec.
Gets pretty low at idle, but bring the revs up to 900 and it picks up to halfway.
Magnatec doesnt seem to affect the cortina though. 100 psi cold, 80psi on a stinking hot day.

I am having this exact same issue. I have an EF with 180k on the clock. i have just replaced the oil and filter. It has some 20/50 in it at the moment. but hasnt solved the problem.

I beleive with my issue its the oil pressure switch.

When i get a chance ill change mine too. Let me know how you go with your pressure test.

Having the same issue with a NL 5.0 using the magnatec- Checked with mech guage and was 15-20 psi on idle when hot... this seems too low for me and I have tried 20w50 with similar results... will try the 15w60 Penrite and hope for the best. Walker... what figures did you get with the mech guage ?? Anyone else had similar problems with the 5.0 ??

I haven't tested it as yet.
I'm driving it upto Qld in early March, it's not due for a service until mid Feb so i'll do the lot before i go.

I remember back when i was building a lot of engines, we never ever ran HV oil pumps on the Fords (The 253/308 needed them though), we used to knock the plug out and fit a 100 psi spring, oil pressure never left the end of the guage.
Use a HV in a Clevo and you end up with oil haze around PCV and breather gromits.
