Wern't the predator carbs 900cfm or bigger. I built my car in 87 so the injection was new and very expensive and not sure the predator was out at the time.

Seems the 600 is at the bottom of the pile... cheers for the feedback, I`ll try to get hold of a different carb for this thing.

For a healthy 351C, 650 is minimum, you can go up to a 780, or even an 800. Vac sec's are nicer to drive than a D/P. With 10.2 comp, a 3/4 race cam would be good. A single plane inlet, like a Weiand X-celerater work very well. Also hooking up an idle solenoid ( from an old XC/XD Thermoquad ), for the idle speed, and will stop it running on when turning off. Another one to help out is MSD 6AL ignition. With the comp up you need a decent spark to start the fire.

I used to read "street machine" magazine back in 87, 88 when I was at Tafe, predators and holley injection were the hot items to have for $$$ back then. They should be easy to pick up these days at swapmeets.

I ran a 600 vac with the choke horn milled off on my cleveland with ported 2V open chambers, weiand x-cellerator, Isky 270 megacam. and it made well over 300 rwhp and that was at 5400rpm! This was on std unleaded and it made masses of torque right off idle.
Make sure you have the TV cable for your AOD set up absolutely spot on Tom. |
