hi guys i have a windsor short block thats out of an 1970 model xy and intend to fit it in my ef 5litre what mods are needed or are the blocks the same cheers.

if its genuinely a 1970 block .....the 69- early 70,s are the strongest blocks in the main webbing .....would be excellent to get big horses out of especially if its std bore

More than likely you will have to do an emissions test to prove that the old block engine complies with ADR37/00

XY's didn't have Windsors, had Clevo's, XW was the last to have a Windsor. Remember phase 1 XW GTHO had 351W and the phase 2 XW GTHO had the 351C.

You could get a 302 Windsor in an XY from the factory. It was only the 351 Windsor that was replaced by the Clevo in the XY.

According to my Ford ID book, XY's were only fitted with a Clevo.
And also says the XW's were fitted with both.
And in my workshop manual on them, says the same thing.
