hey guys, my series 2 el xr8 has been quite the let down fuel wise. i am allways on this forum and i hear of xr8's doing 400-500km+ to a tank. its confusing cause mine is stock as a rock except in intake pipe from the front bumper to the air box but im only getting about 300km give or take 10km before the fuel light goes on. i do about half urban driving and half hyway driving. can anyone help me to get the economey better than 19L/100km.
thank you

This actually hurts economy rather than helping. It's designed to run 91, that is what you should feed it. Higher octane fuel burns slower, so each litre of gas does less work as the piston travels further down the bore before peak cylinder pressure is reached.

First do a fault code scan KOEO & KOER & cylinder balance and fix any faults

Then cruising on a level road at 100kph in top gear your instantaneous fuel economy should be about 8-9 litres/100k's. If it's higher, replace the O2 sensors. If it's in the range it's either related to your right foot or most likely your MAF sensor.

get it check out & go back to basics.!!! a ''dyno'' tune may end up masking the actual problem & cause more headaches... use a scan tool & do a KOEO the KOER see if there is any codes, check timing..etc. remember that the timing controls the injectors as well.!!!

Thanks mate, I might try that first, would I be able to get the scan done at a ford dealership?

K's to a tank is so inaccurate. What sort of L/100k figure are you getting?

Before you replace anything, check & clean your MAF.

I pulled 21L/100 around town in my old AU XR8. shift before 2000rpm and that dropped to 15L/100
