just womdering if you can buy something it put over this o cover it up, or is it just better to make something?

just took all the engine covers off, and it doesnt look the best having a bug hole there. but i was thinking of buying one, so it can have something stamped on it,so it doesnt look boring.

you can usually get a "5LITRE" plate to go in there, some AU's and all the american windsors had them, but the yank ones will be the wrong way around

The AU 5 litre plates are getting harder to get, might be easier/cheaper to make a plate out of aluminium sheet.

Yeah I hunted around and got a "V8 5.0 Litre" plate for it.
Makes the engine bay look a lot smarter.

More common plates are the Synergy 5000, but I'd rather the "V8 5.0 Litre" plate.

where did you source the plate from? wreckers? ebay? private?

Was private. It wasnt in the best shape but it only cost me $20.
I'd like to find a good condition one so I can recondition this one.

if i was to make up my own plate, how would i go about getting decent looking lettering on there?

Yeah i will be getting the original badge i think, but i might even give it a go making one,and seeing how it turns out, i might make a few up and do a few designs..

might start that this week :) just wanna see what it looks it. how thick is the plate you have on there? 5-6mm??

i take it, it is stainless. would it be 304, 316, or do you really think it would matter?

i dont think it would matter, i will try and make some up during the week, i will post pics up when i am finished them, might be a few weeks, as i have to get the house in order for the cruise party im having :)

OOO another Explorer manifold.

Does the engine cover rattle at all offyaguts? I ask because the four bolts that hold it down at the rear are no longer there.

Nah doesn't make a moise. Just the two bolts holding it down need to be done up tight so it doesn't move
