as a preventative maintenance step, at which point do you replace the serpentine belt?
replaced mine on saturday as the old one had millions of tiny cracks thru the ribs on the inside of the belt, i'm just wondering how much life they usually have left in them at that point

the Ford manual says cracks are fine, missing parts of the ribs are not - that is when it is due for replacement!

Just did mine also. Had the cracks you speak of but reason is simple. If I happen to get under it then the last thing I want is a busted belt coz she let go.
Sure it would be fine though on a shopping trolley |
