Since the demise of Pro-M we have been seriously left in the lurch for options on mass airflow meters - especially those who are stroking there 5.0's, retrofitting EFI 351 Windors or just basically wanting a little more airflow in the induction side of things. A few of the suddenly unemployed Pro-M tuners (most notably Nick who wrote the testing programs for the flowbenches) got together with a few other partners and bought out the testbenches and some other equipment (10000 sqare feet worth) to start doing the meters again under the new company - Professional Mass Air Systems.
I have finally managed to get a deal struck with Nick and Dawn and this week will get an Airbox, AU meter and EB-EL meter airfreighted to the US for them to do calibrations with (Thanks Matt ). Nick has changed the programming and testing proceedures and are currently producing Mustang meters with far great an accuracy and repeatability than the Pro-M ones came out with. Here is a list of meter sizing they are planning on producing 80mm plastic unflanged 80mm flanged (will bolt to the 75mm hole in the Australian airbox) 85mm flanged 95mm flanged 77mm with pod style filter (like the old Pro-M 77) 92mm with pod style filter " " Unfortunately for some of us - PMAS are not planning on redoing the 75mm Bullet for a lot of reasons (can anyone say Granatelli) and for now are not planning on redoing the Stock replacement 70mm's which sold so well in Australia. However - they assure me the 80mm flanged will be able to cope with even the stockest of 5.0's with far better accuracy than the 75mm Bullet or stock replacement ever did. So now we go back to being able to get aftermarket Mass Airflow meters calibrated to EB-EL, AU and EBGT-Sprint-ELGT-Fairlane by Tickford to suit any sized injectors. And for Brad and myself - this means Extreme Velocity will see a return to the Commercial Sponsors section.

Good to hear, and welcome back Shane. Just a quick Q, is it possible to clean my Pro-M Maf, as that may be the problem

Yes Brett - just a small spray with some carbiclean and blow out with compressed air should remove any oil residue and impurites. Make sure you get all the carbi-clean off because it is an acid.

Will there be recalibrations for the 75mm bullet? Or will we be better off buying the 80mm variant and selling the bullets..

The Pro-M meters can all be recallibrated - but it will mean sending them back to the US and doing the recal there. On a Black plastic MAF it wouldn't be worth it but a chrome one like yours Sean is well worth hanging on to.

Short of it - Granatelli sued Pro-M which basically forced it to close the doors. It all stemmed on a contract Pro-M and Granatelli had - Pro-M designed & made meters for Granatelli who then had them made by Hitachi. Pro-M started selling the 75's and were doing reasonably well off it and Granatelli decided to bring the lawyers in..

if you really want a MAF, dont forget that www.corral.net/forums has a forsale section(look in fuel system AND electonics sections) and i just picked up a second hand 75mm Pro-M chrome bullet MAF for USD$118 shipped to aus.
i emailed massairsystems yesterday about a time frame for new meters and got a reply this morning, they're setting up a couple of dealers in aus and will have full details in a week.

mrlandau, what kind of airbox are you sending?

The lower airbox between EB-AU is all the same - the upper on the V8's are the same between EF V8-AU with the EB-ED V8 being so close it isn't worth trying to do each model - especially when you find some with the internal fins removed and other with the full bracing. When you see the radically different airbox design the Mustangs use (both pre 93 and 94/95) it is not suprising that the calibrations are a little different.
We are sending an EL airbox to the US for the calibrations. Shane
