It's actually called an "Outback pack". The outback pack consisted mainly of bash plates under engine and trans and stiffer slightly raised suspension. A 4spd manual was a regular option on these cars.
There is no such thing as a 302 Cobra engine. It's a 302C 4V that's all.

Cheers,
Pete.

Well Cheza,
My Dad actually ordered and bought one of the last produced '78 update XC Fairmont wagons. Basically an Emerald fire, electric windows, GXL spec wagon It was delivered new in '79 after waiting 11 months for it! There was already an XD cruising around town before we got it!
Our wagon had "Outback pack", "Rally Pack", 110L Fuel tank, 302 4V(don't worry my brother and I pestered dad to get the 351 but to no avail), C4 auto and strangely a 3.00 :1 Nine inch LSD(which should only appear in manual 351 cars).
People used to call it a GXL wagon but there was in fact no such thing. The 302 4V engine was the standard V8 used and the one used in the 302 powered Cobra was the same....nothing special.
Only the bathurst Cobras got the "QC" engine which meant "Quality control" and these were all 351's.

that sounds like it but this one has a factory four speed manuel on the floor in stead of the auto every thing else sounds pretty much the same from my knowlegde but i am not sure i would have to get the owner to write every thing down for me so i can put it on here and see what you reckon but he has a 351 in it now because the 302 broke a piston and he needed to drive it so he just put the 351 in it to get around but it is heaps better now with the 351
