Hey guys,

I've found a P0001 build pursuit for sale.
I only just learned that doesn't mean build 1
It actually means pilot car.
Were these thrash cars for Ford? press cars? Photo cars?

Are they worth the extra $$

I can get others for around 20/22k

I guess my main concern is that it's technically not build 1 it's all pre-production. Esp if it's just a test car for Ford to thrash which was a rumour I heard. I don't know anything about the P cars.

My understanding of P cars is all that you have mentioned above, basically for ford to thrash and given to the likes of journalists who also thrash them around for their magazine articles.

Also depending on how old the car is now most of the stuff that would have broken due to it being driven hard in its early stages of life could have been replaced already.

I could be wrong but that has always been my perception of P cars however in my opinion it isn't worth that much extra if you are buying it to drive anyway.

If it had low kms and you planned on storing it for 20+ years then maybe it is worth the extra $?

Best of luck

I mean if it's a poster car, Great! But if its a thrash car not so great. I won't be clocking up many kms on it so who knows if it will be more collectible.

Did they actually have a build0001 or did they start at 6 or something after eg.
having 5 or so P cars.

If by all original you mean putting herrod cams, pacemakers, xflow twin, dual intake, dyno tune and whiteline suspension upgrades
...then sure, I'll be keeping it original
