Hey guys hoping you can help me out here, I just swapped over the alternator on my DL, I got the belt off fine but now I need to get it back on and its proving to be a real pain
 Basically Im just chasing how to release the belt tensioner so i can slip the belt back on? I hope that made sense Cheers

If its the same as AU 5 litre, you just slip a half inch drive in the square hole on the front of the tensioner, cant remember if its anti-or clockwise.

3/8 drive, just lever it whichever way it is to release tension.

I made sure I took a photo of the belt setup before I took it off, pretty sure the bit I have circled is the tensioner? Also 3/8 is the only ratchet I dont have!!

Yep 3/8 drive is required. Put it in the little sqare hole and turn it anti clockwise from memory.

Looks like im off to buy a 3/8 Ratchet!!

I have always used a crow bar to push it across, that method is a 2 man job.

Hey guys got myself that ratchet and worked like a charm!! Belt went on so easyyy! Although my volts are still reading as being low any ideas??

Au v8 owner here.... with a 15mm ring spanner i can move mine very easy.... given the descriptions with the whole crow bar bit im thinking my tensioner is crapped.... explains the prone to squeaking bit.
