Are there any issues with running the car without the EGR regulator.

Will use more juice, but thats it. The egr introduces exhaust gas to the inlet tract to allow it to run cleaner on closed loop, ie on the highway

Does it give it more power because it doesn't have dirty exhaust gas going back in?

its not dumping CO back in, its using it more for the heat to help atomise the fuel

It does 2 things.
Keeps combustion temps down (stops pinging)
Soaks up any excess oxygen during combustion to reduce NOX emissions.

When you are flat strapping your car it is disabled anyway, so disconnecting it will make bugger all difference to flat out power, plus make it ping its tits off at most part throttle loading (unless you have your ignition curve changed to suit ie. chipped, tweecer, etc.)

The only real way to disconnect it to get any real advantage is to get some heads that have no heat risers. That way you will stop a little bit of heat transfer to the intake manifold.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think when they did my motor they welded the egr up. I don't recall seeing any lines running in or out. If this is the case, is it necessary to have the egr there? Can you not just bolt the tb to the intake?

Just make a gasket without hole in it..
But unless you know about changing tune to make it run right? I'd leave it there.. Maybe disconnect water hoses to EGR ?? At times the advance is quite a lot on eec tune.. This is to make sure all fuel is burnt.. The combination of inert gases entering combustion chambers helps cool chambers...It also helps to keep your cats healthy....

EGR operates from medium cruise to heavy acceleration and cuts down on NOx gases. NOx is formed from incomplete combustion.
The coolant is there to Cool the intake down where the hot exhaust gases are flowing in so removing the coolant lines and leaving the EGR hooked up will actually reduce performance by allowing heat soak to the intake.

If you disconnect the EVR the EEC will not be able to open the EGR valve.
You will notice poorer fuel economy if you disconnect EGR mainly because under warm cruise the unburnt fuel will not get recirculated and burnt up but also because if the EVP picks up no EGR valve movement it will not advance the timing in anticipation of a more difficult to burn, exhaust contaminated inlet charge and will also not reduce the fuel injection pulse for the less oxygenated air.

What if you put a phenolic spacer on the upper intake to reduce intake temps if you don't have coolant running through anymore (ie my situation)?

The 93 Cobra doesn't have water through its EGR so mine stayed that way... I'm not sure if coolant cools EGR or heats it?? Think how cold it gets in northern U.S.A and Canada....Plus its only in EGR, not in any other part of inlet...Maybe to protect throttle body?? Not disagreeing Pete.. Just debating...In any case its the EEC programe that needs changing, if you just disconnect it ? Its not the best tune...

I got a code on a scanner and it said EGR too low ? mech had no idea exactly what that ment just thought i could shoot you guys the question cause im thinking of riping it out.

Mate cannot remember the code it was atleast five months ago but it definatly said EGR too low, i was contemplating ripping it out but ill replace the vacuum lines to see if that helps fix it.

Okay i put new vac line on and still no difference, still lugs until it gets a bit of speed i will go over all the sensors.

Does anyone know what voltages id be looking at.

what sort of car and year is it and. Ask your mechanic what fault code he got from scanner or go get a scanner plugged in again and get codes.
