I’ve just replaced the top end on my ef. Parts consisted of: s/h Gt40p heads, cobra manifold port and polished lower, upper intake opened to 75mm, 75mm Holley TB, 24 pound injectors, Maf removed. Mega Squirt ecu looking after the tune. Made 149rwkw up from 122(last dyno sheet showed 130 but anyways). Goes so much better. Is this a good figure or is something holding me back?. Auto.

Nah mate, that sounds like pretty good power output for those mods. Considering a stocker would likely weight in around 110 - 115.

Def sounds like you can feel the diffference.

What kind of exhaust are you running?

Nice.

Well to put it in perspective, i was making about 170rwkw with about 6.5psi from a powerdyne supercharger...

So... heads, intake, TB, injectors + a tune... i think you're doing pretty well!

Do you program the megasquirt yourself?

Are you still running the stock camshaft? If so it is holding you back!

Good to see that those heads get used.

get a cam in there.

my eb made 158rwkw with ported e7's and ho manifold. running mafless though with 65mm t/b and microtech ecu. i've just put gt40p's on mine. still have std ho manifold though as funds could only stretch to one at a time. i'm hoping to nudge 170 but not getting hopes up as manifold will really hold it back.

i got lucky with my heads as the machine shop (lonsdale engine worx - can't praise them enough) were after a set of std e7's for a motor they were doing so for $50 plus my heads i had the gt40p's blasted, valves and seats all mchine cut, new stem seals and springs swapped over from old heads. should have it fired up and back on the road tomorrow adn tuned next tues (boostworx).

If you can get on top of the tune, the 160rwkw should be a piece of piss. A good cam will take that setup closer to 190-200rwkw.

auto. i don't actually mind though. lazy mans car and it goes pretty good too. like i said, the last couple of weeks mines been off the road too and now has gt40p's (reco'd) so i'm hoping to break through the 160 mark and nudge the 170.

yours def needs a cam to give it a decent boost. my brother in perth has a au2 forte v8. stock it had around 137 i think. fitted cam and vsi gas system to run straight gas and now has about 160ish from memory. thats pretty much the same motor as yours too as all au's got the gt40p's and explorer. mine's much quicker though as i have 3.9's and eb's are lighter. (look better too but thats a topic for another day  )

First thing i did when i got my car was fit 3.9's one of the best bang for bucks. I'm using the cobra manifold but i dont think there's much difference between the cobra and explorer. Cam has been added to the shopping list.
