Got the heads up on a cheap stock eb xr8 exhaust manifolds and Im wondering if it would be worth the cash swapping the stock Nc 5L manifolds with the eb xr8 one? I am after mild gains to pedel response and a better note and I know aftermarket headers would be better gains but for the price I was thinking about it. What gains would I expect jsut from the stock manifold? She has a 3" sports cat back done by the previous owner on it at the moment and I will eventually be going mandrel cat back without centre muffler to prob Lukey inline sports back muffler. Honestly I have 4 kids, the youngest being 3 months so the idea of spending $600+ on headers is out of the question and if the eb's would make a noticeable difference ill go them. Also is going ss cold air induction worth the cash or can you get just as much feel out of a k&n filter on a stock box?

they are both the same.
post pics of them your referring to. ss air induction is a waste of money. |

Definately both the same headers.
The only difference with the XR8 has been some different mapping in the ECU.

The only headers that were different were EBGT/Sprint everything else is the same.
The best bang for the buck are the underdrives I mentioned in the other post. If you're going to spend any money do that first. |

you want a good money for power upgrade get an edelbrock rpm 2 performer manifold and 65mm t/b
car will pick up around 30rwkw with a good exhaust |

ok guys they looked different but thats why I posted here....... fordmoders know there s**t. Another question I have to do the harmonic soon but the previous owner had just put a new water pump in when he did the heater core. The belt drive on the harmonic is fine but the inner part has a slight kink in the spin, I have been told they have a rubber that is between the that goes and the only way to fix is to replace the lot? Every time I have done anything on the cooling systems on fords the water pump goes. Is there any way to keep the water pump diaphram from going when I take the radiator out? It would be a waste of dosh to spend the hundred odd dollars to do the pump when I do the harmonic thats all

You dont have to touch the water pump when you change the harmonic balancer.

Water pump should be fine, Unless theres an issue with it at the moment i wouldn't bother pulling it off.

Hope you don't use tap water? |

no, not tap water but a 50/50 mix eth/glycol and demineralised water. Had a mechanic once tell me that its a mixture of once the pressure goes and because pretty much as soon as the inner seals of the pump are not in fluid they dry out. Had an xf that had a rebuilt motor done by a retard one day that blew its head 30k's after I bought it ( incorrect head bolt tension) then when I got the heads done by a mechanic and I noticed the head bolts once again were not tensioned correctly, he told me he could not warrant the head without a brand new radiator and water pump ( after it started playing up he informed me of this and it already had a new radiator/pump in it), so I got a new radiator and another pump....... each time it was worked on the pump went and the last pump was not imersed in coolant for all of 20 minutes. I can get the harmonic out without removing the radiator but its the time it will take for me to bash the new one in place, all of 20 min that worry me. If the pully on the harmonic that runs off the belt is fine but the inner pully(?) section has a little off correct turn will that be fine? What is the use of the inner pully piece anyway? is it a ballancer?

I have replaced the balancer on my EL and I didn't even have to remove the thermo fans.
The radiator is only pressurized when the motor is warming or warmed up when they are cooling down they are actually creating a vacuum and drawing water from the header tank in most cases. They only started to pressurize the header tank at the start of the E series.

How did you get the harmonic on correctly 351el with the limited space between radiator and harmonic? Yeh there is still some room on the nc 5ltr but last ballancer I replaced ( on a holden)took some serious bashing to really get it to sit properly.
