as fair as im aware the majority of roller rockers are aluminium, either cast or billet depending on brand and quality (and price) id doubt anyone would make rockers out of platinum, id say platinum is the series (ie gold series, platinum series)

what brand are you looking at?

I ended up going the yt street terra's ($580) because they were shaft mount and i was told that was cheaper overall. the crane pedestal ones were cheaper to buy (around $450) but apparently then i'd need to get guides and something else that would've cost more overall.

Crane do a bolt in 1.7 ratio energizer roller rocker kit. The energizer line is their budget line and is not recomended for the high spring pressures normally used with mechanical roller cams. This kit requires NO additional parts but does require some know how minimum. I believe this is the Ford Mustang 93' Cobra roller rocker.

Most kits AFAIK require machining because the std efi 302 heads are pedestal and use weaker 5/16 hold down bolts. Virtually all kits are designed for stud mount with 7/16 or 3/8 bolts.

The Crane kit is a higher ratio rocker than std and most aftermarket sets. You should be able to buy them for under $450 new from Jegs or Summit in USA. Part number should be 44746-16.

If I can generate any interest I might try to organise a small group buy for these which should bring the price under $400 hopefully.

The YT stealth rockers are cheap (~$450), strong (pairs joined by shaft), and made in Australia....I can't see why you would bother with stuff from the US.

Stud mount is certainly better than pedastal mount (less flex and easier to adjust), but the YT's will hold fine with the sort of spring pressures you would run with a hydraulic roller cam (less than 400lbs open).

So if your sticking with a hydraulic roller, I would forget the expenxe of buying from the US and converting the heads for stud-mount rockers....just buy the YT's for $450 and be happy :)
