hi does anyone know what type of roller rockers to suit gt40p heads,must have 1.7 ratio 3/8 or 7/16 stud mounts and be adjustable, only ones i can find r street terra but they r only 5/8 and mechanic said they r no good.i have been told scorpion make suitable but mechanic only wants to use crane or yella terra as there r some rubbish out there.also any ideas on cam i'm running crane 2031 but also mechanic wants to change to a much larger cam to suit the port job being done on these heads and after market manifold.

Shaft mount roller rockers from Crane etc..Tickford used them..Get adjustable.. Less hassle adjusting etc...

mechanic wont use shaft mount as they use standard 5/8 which is fine if motor is mild but he will only use 3/8 or 7/16 studs,5/8 r piss weak and he does wont to be resonsible when or if they give way.

The "stealth series" roller rockers are twin shaft units that are a very strong unit. If you are only talking GT40P heads - the motor isn't that wild and I am assuming your are running with the standard ECU and rev limiter? Even the platnium series (which are Yella Terra's strongest) come in pedestal mount (5/8" mountig bolt). The 250kw Tickford strokers didn't have screw in studs on their GT40P's - even the AFR 165's and 185's are available in pedestal mount.

MOTOR HAS BEEN BUILT BUT WE USED THE ORIGINAL E7 HEADS WITH MILD PORT JOB,SINCE THEN I ALREADY HAD PURCHASED THE GT40P HEADS,BUT I CHANGED MY MECHANIC, HE HAS ARRANGED FOR THE HEADS TO BE EXTENSIVELY PORTED BY ONE OF THE STATES LEADING DRAGRACERS,THIS HAS BEEN A 3 MTH WAIT AS HE CONTINUALLY HAS HEADS SENT OVER FROM THE USA TO WORK ON PLUS HE GETS PLENTY OF WORK FROM EASTERN STATES AS WELL,HE HAS JUST PORTED THE NEW MANIFOLD AT THE MOMENT AND IS STARTING THE HEADS THIS WEEK,MY MECHANIC IS DOING A PROFILE ON MY MOTOR AND ON PAPER WE R LOOKING AT AROUND 450 HP,WELL MAYBE THATS NOT WILD BUT COMPARED TO THE ORIGINAL IT WILL DO ME,WE STILL HAVE TO CHANGE THROTTLE BODY AND ONCE I SAVE WE WILL WORK ON THE COMPUTER,I REALLY DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT MOTORS MY SELF SO I RELY ON ADVICE FROM HIM.BUT HE HASNT USED THESE HEADS BEFORE SO ONCE THEY COME BACK HE WILL DO HIS OWN RESEARCH 4 THE BEST ROLLER ROCKERS TO USE.

My ears hurt!! It don't matter s**t about porting etc !!!
The shaft type is twice as strong in theory as they are held down by two bolts..One each side..Those r/rockers are in a XR8 with AFR heads and 2031 cam and hasn't had any issues...Yes shaft mount is better BUT has he converted to shaft mount ? In most ways though if you are using hydro cam these rockers are way good enough....Besides I'd trust Crane before some unknown mech..
He is partially right but this is a street car right ? So unless you are using cam with more than 550 lift I wouldn't worry about it! Those heads no matter how they're ported won't flow good over 550 valve lift anyway !!!
With stud mount you need guide plates and hardened pushrods...

Yes please give us some more specs, 450hp is fairly wild. I assume with that power it is a 347 stroker engine. As others have said, even fully ported those heads aren't going to flow too much over 550th lift so stud mount rockers aren't required. Any reason you went for GT40P's over aftermarket heads like AFR or Trickflow. After porting etc I would have thought the aftermarket ones still would have been cheaper and flow far better than any GT40P will.

Correct Especially when out of box TFS are from $2200....AFR $1k more

i hear what u r saying,he has only realy used crane gold and likes to stick with what he knows but they dont supply with 1.7 ratio to suit these heads 450hp i think is abit ambitious but with the 2040 cam he wants to fit and the expected flow rates from the heads which we wont know until we get them back we can only hope, as with the stealth i think they r relitivey new and he hasn't used before or doesnt relise they r twin mount he will do his own research once he gets hold of my car and starts the job as i said it was first built by someone else and we r relying on what they said was done,i went for gt40p heads after reading feedback from fordforum which had been used and recommended by many ford owners, they also only cost me $600.00 new

Ok $600 for a set of GT40P's is a good price, and yeah they are decent heads for mild engines but anything wild really needs aftermarket ones. Will be interesting to see the result once done.

That cam is an E303 it has 498 lft and 220* @50 110 lob centre..
It will get you to 300h.p... same specs as your Crane cam...

Yeah exactly, and from what I have been told it doesn't have a really agressive ramp rate like some more modern designs again showing that stud mount rockers aren't really required.
