I have a 2001 au II ford falcon I want to fit 351 Cleveland v8 in it on leg what I need to know is if the au falcon auto trans will operate properly not having the electronic injection connected? The starter motor power will be factory auto trans and eec will still be fitted pretty much just the engine loom Will be disconnected as it's not needed the 12v power to run the electronic distributor is simple enough to setup ,it's the electronically controlled auto will still operate properly and if not what's required to get it to?

It will still operate but you'll need the TPS and Encoder signals at a. minimum for it to operate. Ideally you would adapt the fuel injection to the new engine(assuming it was a V8) which can be done. TFS make the intake and camshaft sensors can be obtained to suit the 351. I can organise a 36-1 crank encoder wheel for the balancer.

I'm not Keen on injecting it as I've already got a Cain tunnel ram and carbs , I've heard that running I :'( a older ecu that doesn't rely on the tps and such but I don't know if there's any truth to it , a tps wouldn't impossible to set up on a carburetor but where's the encoder signals come from how could I work around that

No the BTR always uses TPS(at a minimum) to sense load so you'll never get around that.
What distributor/ignition are you using? |

Do you want the stock tacho to work?

I got a Accel billet distributor in and it would be nice to have the factory tacho work but not a must.
So with just the tps how would that affect.the transmission in the way it runs , I know with the holden 4l60e autos there's a schematic out there how to modify the trans loom plug that plugs into the transmission and it fully manualises it , can any thing like that or has been done like that to the ford transmissions ? |

From EF- up, the cluster talks to the EEC via the DOL(data output line) so the EEC actually sends Temp data and engine speed data to the cluster.
Yes and many of the autos work in the same manner. I know someone with an aftermarket trans controller with a custom strategy on his BTR95 but that was a few grand worth. Talk to Jamie at shift kits.com about his manual BTR controller. It means running at max line pressure all the time I believe though. |
