That cam would be ok IMO not the hassle of changing it...I'd be checking into better induction as in HEADS..and inlet...

Having underdrive pullies with larger alternator and water pump pullies makes them underdriven further, so they spin slower/use less power. IMO 4.11's wouls make it slower over the 1/4 with stock heads, and stock sized tyres. Everyone gets offended when this is suggested, but maybe you just need to find a better driver, or practice up on launch techniques? Drag racing is certainly more involved than flooring it for 15 seconds. If you have your timkeslip handy, do you reckon you could post every time from it? Diff gears can make a world of difference, especially in a warmer motor. The launch will be better and although it will run out of puff a little sooner, it will get up to a higher speed and cover more of the 400m with a higher speed due to better acceleration. Should be able to go .3 faster.

what condition is the tranny in? not slipping?
is the torque converter slipping? are you getting WOT? cats in good nick - not blocked? all sensors clean and funtioning correctly and at the right settings? with all the mods you have I would be expecting it to go alot better than 15's, hell I was getting 15.1 with just a set of paccies and a pod filter, otherwise the rest of the car was std (even the suspension). |

Looks like you've got a mismatch of parts veeate.
The 2030 is a better cam for stock heads(1400-5400 rev range) and the Edelbrock intake with a 70mm T-body will throw away the port velocity required to fill the cylinders through stock heads. I would have changed the heads before the intake. Your 89mph trap speed shows you're making less top end hp than your old combo. From here I'd say get some 1.90 valve Edelbrocks, proper underdrives and 3.7 gears. Pete. |
