Hey guys.
My car (manual el xr8) runs awesome when cold, but once the engine reaches 'normal' operating temperature, it loses heaps of performance at full throtle? Why would this be? |

I would be checking AF ratios on the dyno, the only thing I could think of is if the car runs very lean (from maybe a dirty MAF or bad injectors/pump) then the extra fuel added when cold brings the AF ratios back to normal. The EEC doesn't do anything to timing until it gets really hot so fuel would be the only thing to look at I reckon.

Good stuff, if its as easy as that then ill be happy, lol. Looks like ill be booking it in for some dyno time.. |

Yeah, my XR8 is the same, once the car has warmed up, to above the line on the temp gauge, it pulls a fair bit harder, once its warmed up to the usual operating temp, i can notice t just doesn't pull as hard.
I might have to check some of this myself as well. Thanks Dude Dave |

doubt it's the problem but I pulled the 192deg factory thermostat and put a 180 in seemed to make a noticable underfoot differance. any lower and according to the mustang tech talk the eecIV runns in warmup mode

Rang the mechanic today, he seems to think it might be electrical related, like coil or sum s**t, but wont say forsure unless i leave it with him.. |

EDIT: lol my bad..
Once warmed up, most cars will lose power.. Pretty simple really. Hot air = less dense air = less performance.

Why would this be? Are you running a pod filter? Nope, no pod filter. Just a BMC panel filter in a standard box, with ss induction. But yeah, its not sucking up hot air from anywhere... |

Sounds like a typical problem with the bloody things
cos Guess what ???? mine's the same!! It drives you up the wall trying to find the problem, just when you think you have found it , you find its not the problem at all!! dyno analizing is the only way, check AF ratios, spark timing etc cos you will spend s**t on replacing parts that are ok.
