Maf sensor only has the words PAT PEND on it with a big V symble on it the sensor on that has the code eabcdf on it are u meant to get an after market sensor too with bigger maff? Can fords do maff less tunes like the holdens ? The plenum has definitely not been cut open just had a look then , would it be worth taken the plenum of and getting it ported more and can the inlet be ported 75 mm on te inlet the whole way theough ? The ute probly has a fair few locked up kws with the stuffed leads stock coil pack non recent tune with manifold not properly done. Ran a 13.6 with late start and big wheel spin on te weekend

I'd listen to Pete (XR9UTE) over anyone else in this thread so far. I'd try hunt down a FMS tubular manifold (same as EL GT) before going to a Trickflow (assuming StreetHeat manifold)

Thanks 67RCE, but I would rather keep the Explorer upper. The 40 is too restrictive on the crossover and you get better taper in the runners when you cut the plenum off, whereas you can't get any with the 40.
What's the rest of this combo anyway? It may not need anything more?

The flow difference between the Gt40 and the Explorer/Cobra upper is barely anything, so its definately not worth changing.

If you want a better intake than both TFS or GT40 based...get an Edelbrock RPM2 but until we know just what has been done to these 40p's and what cam it has, leave it as is.

The tf manifold I would get would be a track heat one, so I have a 347 stroker with crane 2031 cam, ported gt40p heads with 1.72 yells terra roller rockers,double valve springs, big mouth induction, 90 mm maf, 75 elderbrock throttle body, I think 31lbs or 41 lbs injectors, but the plenum on my manifold looks like it hadnot been toched I might take the whole intake of this weekend and have a proper look

A Track heat is just a shorter runner Street heat with no marked increase in runner size so, frankly it's like an old version Performer RPM2...useless. A TFS R-series intake is another story and in fact too big for 40p heads in general. The new Edelbrock RPM2 is actually better all round and much like the Holley systemax2 which has excellent runner taper to give you the best of both worlds... high airflow and increased velocity, so you get high torque and high power.
A 2031 is a mild cam even for a 5.0. Got any compression specs? What size valves in the heads?
Sounds to me like you should drop down to an 80mm Ford MAF and you won't need anything much more than 24lb injectors, certainly no more than 30's. That should be a very torquey combo which is obviously most important.
Next time you have in on the dyno use a vac gauge on the engine and see if you get any at WOT.

It's got high flow walbro fuel pump as well, I have no idea what compression or size of the valves he the guy I brought it off lost all his paper work after his devorce before I did the intake it had 228 rwkw , I wish I knew all the specs would e do much earlier for me ill try find out knight and post every thing,, cam would you go xr9? Maybe I jut need to get new ignition can and tune an she will be sweet,

What you have now is already pretty well matched together. Changing the intake (to something reasonable such as the RPM 2 or if you want more top end TFS-R or Victor 5.0) will not give you what you are chasing on its own. The GT40P heads and 2031 cam will be then be your restriction.

Yeah it is a pretty well balanced engine still keeping it safe for the t5z and the diff too, but I did find rpm2 in the states for a good price would it be no good if the ports on the manifold are bigger than the head ports , just scared if it will aide turbulence or rebound affect , it's just that the engine needs a tune and I need a new tuner old cappa is no good ! So I don't wanna waste all this money just for a tune might as well give it another upgrade if it will help brake those 12s

If the RPM2 is unported then the lower will be close to a gt40p port dimension already.

Boltedup how about the Holley smatic manifold will the ports be similar size to the rpm2( fit ment to the ported gt40 heads be ok ?

Holley2 only faces the drivers side so it's a big effort to fit one and I wouldn't fit one over a the RPM2 anyway.
If I were you I would find out why yours is not making the 228kw it was making before and once you get it back leave it like that. I suspect that MAF is too big and possibly dodgy.
I think the stock 70mm MAF is more appropriate for your engine. If you consider a mates' 5.0 Capri made 249kw with a '93 Cobra MAF (70mm like yours) and was 0.01volts off being maxed out it is pretty well matched for your combo.

Mine was
228 before I did the manifold spacer elderbrock 75 mm throttle EGR body spacer and 90 mm maf assuming after a tune I should get a fair bit more than that I woulda thought, I was thinking that when I saw the picks of the Holley didnt look like it could be flipped , its funny on my old au Fairlane I had extractors, elderbrock manifold,( 75 throttle body and 90 mm maf) which i sawped onto this car and capa flash tuner made 183 rwkw an was an auto it was sluggish as he'll though.
