Not knowing how the Explorer was ported but, assuming it's been done right....No.

A correctly ported explorer manifold will out perform a stock track heat..
Stay with what you have got. That being said, $1800 for a port job better have come with a years worth of blowjobs as well. Thats f**k Exxy.

Ok cool money saved cheers heaps guys, not sure if its been cut and welded I know it's been port match to suit the heads and he recons he spent $1800 5 years ago porting it when he did the 347 since I have put a 90 mm mad 75 throttle body ported the inlet to match the throttle body and put a spacer imbertween the manifolds it's running rough as guts, do use think a tube will fix it ?

Has it been tuned with the MAF and throttle Body?

You'd be able to tell if it's been cut and welded...you'd see the weld.
As 67RCE says; has it been tuned with the 90mm MAF...Is it a Ford Lightning 90mm MAF? |

I haven't had it tuned with any of te brake yet because I only have the old capa flash tunner which they don't tune Amy more . Sucks! Any one recommend a good flag tuner or do I even need one ? I don't think the top manifold has been touched much coz I had to bore out the inlet a bit to match my throttle body, not see what brand the mad sensor is either I will check when I get home , cheers fellas

Use a 1/4 horse and the 90mm Lightning MAF which is made of black plastic and has Ford on it.

What a quarter hose ? Mines made out of alloy are they not good to use I've got rid if that air loop things on the intake it's meant to stop noise but I took it off and plugged up the hole

Also with the top part of the manifold can I bore we're the throttle body goes on 75 mm the whole way coz the way I have it now is just chamfered at the stat the cones down into the manifold

Its harmless pulling the dog turd off the intake, as long as its sealed up. 1/4 horse is tuning software for your car. check out the moates website for full info.

trickflow is way better than a stock manifold but the AUIII/Explorer intake is fairly on par with air flow compared to the trickflow, id say dont bother unless your buying the whole head/intake/cam packadge

Moates 1/4 horse is a device that plugs into the J3 port on the back of the EEC which then connects to your laptop that allows real time tuning and data logging. Check out www.moates.net You may have to buy a definition file from someone locally or at least see if your particular EEC is supported. Not all are but if yours is, it is far better than any brand of poxy flash tuner. The beauty of EECV is that once you've finalised a calibration you could flash the EEC then you wouldn't need to leave the 1/4 horse in. Which frees it up to use on something else.
Does this 90mm MAF have a brand name? C&L perhaps? ABout the intake, it was more a question to find out how far they went with porting. For $1800 you'd expect they'd cut the plenum off to get at the start of the runners. If they haven't they either charge too much or they are so slow and/or charged a high hourly rate and didn't actually do any more than a port match. |
