When I did my diff I made sure they were lined up properly.. Perhaps it just isn't balanced properly, who knows.

The FBT has the same alloy tailshaft and no speed limiter - although it looks to be better ballanced. It is still an alloy tailshaft with the standard part number on it...

i have a problem with not being able to go over 180. only seems to happen when i'm in second gear. changing up to third makes the limit about 230, 4th goes higher again and in 5th or 6th it won't go over 299.

you can't :p
that's what the bike does. 150 in forst, 180 or 190 odd in second,230 in third.
that's when the rev limiter cuts in.
the speed limiter is at 299. haven't hit that yet so i'm not 100% sure if it'll do it in 5th or if i'll need 6th for it.

Incidentally, is the Northern Territory the only place to have open speed limits on some of their highways or are there other states with similar limits?

I know for a fact there is a no limit section of road, out at Port Wakefield in SA.

I've driven it in a rental AU station wagon - 180 all the way :). Something like 10K long.

Unless it is private property you cannot do any more than 110kph in SA even if its open speed limit.

So why not put up 110 signs and not the no limit signs.

Yeah 110kph signs would be a bit easier wouldnt they, and most of the open speed limit signs have been changed to 110 but there are still a few out there I have noticed.

Yeah i noticed they removed most of the derestricted signs around SA. Not that its of any concern to me.... im limited to 100 and really need my licence.

It's amazing how many people here are willing to put an automatic falcon up to its engineered speed limit.

I'll keep the limit in mind next time I'm in SA (the event I mentioned was several years ago now).

I'm sure as any good engineer would know, the 180 is a highly conservative limit. The engineering would be good for another 25-50%. After all, Ford couldn't have Falcons exploding or <insert disasterous event here> if they're going 180, and suddenly go downhill, and nudge 181!
