Dunno about the statesman in the styling department, but everything else is there.
Straightline performance, the 5L commodore motor has it wrapped up, as much as i hate to admit it. Same goes for aftermarket gear too.

1. IN the stock form, holden
2. Fairlane 3. thats up to the individual i spose, but im not a fan of a square looking ford barge, at least the holdens are rounded a bit. 4. fairlane, but only by a touch. the NF/NL would be my pick over them both, IMo it is the better option. And as for aftgermarket accessories, there are s**t out there for both. just a matter of looking in the right places.

ive got an old Motor magazine..
165kw Fairlane NC 0-100km/h in 8.07s and 15.74 0-400m 165kw statesman 0-100 km/h in 8.15 and 15.84 0-400m test was in 1992.. So isnt straight line performance in stock cars equal... Maybe later model fairlanes and statesmans became heavier and as a result slower in these times??

I was gunna dig up an old magazine to prove it but why argue with them... when they "know" the holdens faster

In terms of build quality, look out for either on the road. The statesmen's I've seen look like they're falling apart with faded paint.

Hmm, my old VR V8 Statesman had all sorts of problems:
1) loved chewing fan belts. Eat one belt, the motor will eat the other two. 2) loved squealing fanbelts, another favourite. 3) IRS was like a datto 180B. 4) the air-con evaporator died = whole dash and heater box out 5) overheating. This is an Australian V8 supposed to be built for Australian conditions. BUT: 1) felt like it went hard probably because of the healthy gearing. Hmm, thats it. |

The statesman's are heinous, they look terrible i mean seriously terrible. I find them almost Japanese Toyota Celsior terrible. Mate, The LTD's look great, have so much room you could host a party in it, and they scream classy. About the only thing i would admit to, is i would love some GT40p's on it. Engine has pretty good stocko performance though, i dragged off a mates black top trueno, and i had a full car load. No s**t. this is before any mods by the way.
It's kind of like driving your leather lounge suite, but faster, much faster...oh and cooler |

Mate thats pretty respectable dragging off a Trueno, those things go pretty hard cause they're lightweight and all, quick to 60 but after that i reckon the LTD would eat it up . Good work!! |
