it is critical that you have the correct length pushrod, to get the correct lifter preload.
you wont really know what length pushrod you will need until you install the cam, and measure with an adjustable pushrod. |

thanks, i understand about the pre-load etc i was meaning are the stock ones up to the task with the extra stress from double springs ,extra lift etc do you need to replace with high tensile ones

Yeah, thats a good question....and im not real sure.
I ran the stock pushrods for a while with my Crane 2030, shifting at 5400-5500rpm, and they seemed OK. I've got adj rockers to make up the length. I am thinking of running some thicker/stronger pushrods when it goes back together though. |

Dont skimp - get hardened chrome moly if you are running higher spring pressures - and do measure pushrod length if cam changed.
Richie.

You only require hardened pushrods when using stud mount rockers / heads.. As the guide plates wear on pushrods and send fillings through engine..The std pushrods will take 340 Lb besides too much higher than that the std roller lifters become suspect....
It's more the lenghth and geometry thats required..Adjustable roller rockers would be better...
