It's highly illegal, and anyone that overtly admits to doing it, is being a tad silly...
Having said that, I never liked the environment anyway.. make of that what you will...

Apparently-from someone experienced, you just stick a pipe through the cat and weld it up.It looks as though you have a working system, except that the cat is by-passed. Beware the epa!

Yeah I know plenty of people who do that, but as said it is illegal, bad for the environment and your own health (seeing that most of the by-products of unleaded petrol are cancer causing). Main question is why when there really isn't much benefit in doing it in the first place.

I suppose it is the old story- you are never convicted for the crime, only for being caught!

It's illegal for a reason. Don't do it. I'd prefer you don't contribute to stuffing up the environment, my health and my children's health!

A couple of good prolonged high speed runs (pedal to the metal) and the guts blows out of the cats anyway.

Mine smell sulphurous after a thrash tho, is this normal?
When i got the exhaust done we checked them out and are perfectly fine and werent in need of replacment. Take this info how ever you wish but i was worried they were screwed n i was gonna get done possibly if pulled over, but not much i can do if they are good and still smell every now and then. Weird

Have a pair of 2 1/2" high flows fitted on mine, maybe mine were cheapies or something but, I used to do some high speed runs on the way home late at night, pedal to the metal (most of the way) for about 3 1/2 mins (the time it took be to get home along this nice stretch of road b4 having to slow up for my driveway) just scratching over the 220 mark for some time (taking forever to get there after 215). Last time I had the pipes off I noticed that they were empty. Time for another pair.

Hollowing the cat gives it a terrible sound and you wouldnt get the flow that you want due to the turbulence, think of exhaust gas like water in a pipe. youd opt for the pipe thru the middle if you were to do sumthin like that. A cop may not know the difference with a cat being hollow or not but an RTA or EPA would soon know when the there pointing a temperature probe at the cat and they dont see a reading of several hundred degrees. BIG FINE!!! |

I would bother ... if your just doing it as a cheap way to get more noise from your exhaust...save for a wee while...get a lumpier better cam....better exhaust setup and extractors...sounds wicked and then it will go harder too
