Hehe Fingers crossed.

Plan is to run a good number on the dyno, a good number on the track then retire the blower and keep the car as a streetable daily (with enough to hold a LS1).

You would be familiar with the motor too Dave, its Tones's motor.

I will start a build thread in the garage.

Seriously man i would spend a good portion of that 12 grand on the diff and box because i owned an ex copper au and the box and diff were nearly stuffed when i got it at 127000km.
The standard autos struggle to handle any sort of decent power upgrade and by now your lsd would be due for bearings and a lsd freshen up.
I would get afr 165 heads and do exactly what xh5lweapon did to his xr8 ute.
Its a n/a 5.0 and it goes like f**k, no blowers or strokers there.

He said it was the commissioners car.
I can't remember the last time I got RBT'd by Christine Nixon so I'd say it didn't get used for general duties.

Haha all opt 20 ex cop cars have a sticker on the inside of the owners manual that says it was owned by the police commissioner, because thats exactly what my au had :D and thats exactly what every other ex cop car has.
The truth hurts but this car would have been thrashed as an unmarked/detective car, that is why i recommend the diff and trans rebuild/upgrade if you are going to give it a horsepower boost because the box will fail.

Did you end up either stroking or blowing it? If not and you're still deciding, what do you want out of the car? Will you be running it down the strip, taking it out on the track, or just general street duties?

By just throwing a blower on, schnoods managed a 13.2sec pass down the 1/4. XH5LWEPN with AFR 165s, Explorer intake and a host of other well thought out parts and mods has a best of 13.3sec pass down the quarter which is set to improve once his new gearbox is in. That's still the humble old 5.0. I've also stuck with the stock bottom end and thrown a Trick Flow top end kit in which takes the hard work out of selecting a matching setup. My best 1/4 run is 13.4 which I plan on bettering with some better tyres. s-tranzor went down the 347 path but is too scared to take it down the strip, so we don't know what that's capable of  . I'm sure that would be able to get into the 12s with over 300rwhp and a bucketload of torque.

The most important thing is when you decide what you want to do, find yourself a GOOD mechanic and get it tuned by Simon at XFT.

go the S/C. basically bolt-on. no need to take engine out. and can sell kit seperately if you want to later. stroker - you need to take motor out and basically do a all machine work. a lot of labour $$, for not that much gain.

If i was to rebuild motor, i would do stroker, but if motor is still good, go the S/C. If worried about bottom end strength, i think you can install a girdle without taking motor out - up thru sump.

the raptor kits seem to be reasonably priced.

N/A is awsome but i dont know how a blower car is on the street and how it delivers power

My previous ride EF XR8 400hp 347 stroker with race prep C4 4000rpm converter and 3.73 diff ratio. Cruzin at 60km's in 3rd gear and clip it to 2nd and jump on it and fry the tries :D 265/30/19 chopping them up no problem hahahaha

That what i love about aspirated engines, the power is always there and a hot day dosent make the engine lose much poke as boosted engines on the same day.

I could imagine if i had the same car with same gearbox and diff setup but stock 5L with blower would do the same but i would imagine abit more torque from a blower???

You could also go 351 windsor block and use standard crank, h beam rods and SRP pistons, alloy heads with abit of comp and cam and that would also be a nice setup

And another option

Get a full reco 351 windsor and but a blower on that??? the 351 windsor block will take alot more hp than the stock 5L
