How bad is a sump gasket to do on a DC 5.0?

motor out, you can do it with the motor still in the bay but its a friggen prick of a job. I recently done mine on an engine stand and had a hard enough time with the 'c' seals or half moon seals as some like to call them.

Use a Fel-Pro 1 piece silicone seal if the engine is still in the vehicle. It even comes with 4 special fixtures that help the gasket defy gravity while you position the sump. Worth the extra cost and is re-usable.
