I was talking to one of my mates today about chargeing the lane. He is fairly up to speed on engines and the such.

Anyways he reckon i shouldnt worry about changeing the heads and the manifold, and just get the supercharger......

He reckon i would be pulling around 190kw with just standard engine and the charger. Yes fair enough.... but if i did the heads and manifold (trickflow) i would be pulling say 160 or so (i hope anyways), then if i wack a charger on that i would be pulling 220-230.... yes?

What would you's all do, me personally think i will stick with the manifold and heads change before the charger. As i know how restrictive they are.

But opinions and suggestions please.

cheers

BEN

I KNEW IT!
I told you to supercharge it yesterday.
Id do heads and manifold first, free up a bit of power, then whack the supercharger on, no wait sorry the larger "alternator".

It depends on what blower you went for, but i was pulling 212rwkw on 5PSI with stock everything from a Series 1 XR8, so everything on that is restricted and s**t. Thats with a Vortech. So I would be expecting the power gains you said with a blower on stock heads and manifold...

I would've thought it isn't as necesarry to upgrade the heads and manifold as its being force fed the air they need, but of course better heads and manifold will produce gains. I'm not sure how much though, but it should be fairly noticable.
If you can afford both, go for it!

Shuddup You :D

Yeah im looking at the vortech atm. i prob would like the heads and manifold first before i did the charger.

But say i put charger on first, then i change the heads and the manifold.

Would i get a huge difference if i choose the trickflow setup compared to GT40 - explorer/cobra setup..... both being charged.

I havent got a endless supply of cash, so would inotice a huge amount of difference in between the two head and manifold setups both supercharged?

And i must say 212rwkw on 5psi stock is pretty darn good i must say.

I honestly couldn't tell you how much of a difference changingthe heads and manifold over, but even GT40's would be a great improvement over the E7's.
Even if yours stayed stock, i would be expecting around the 220-250rwkw mark on around 8 PSI. Which is a nice mark to have some good fun 8-)
I should be able to tell you soonish what power i get on 8-10 PSI when everything stock, as the blower is getting rebuilt.
There would be a few guys on here that would know a s**t load more than i do about the heads and manifold though...

Were you going to get a kit for the 'Lane or try and get the parts yourself?

Hey Dave, why don't we slap the blower on the Sprint and tell him how much more power better flowing heads and manifold make

On my EF with stock heads and intake, my Vortech V2 boosts up to 11psi (not intercooled, but with water injection), and I pull 221rwkw.

Its a very nice start.

Currently its a piggy back job. Hopefully soon I will have a twEECer setup to extract a little more and let it run more healthily (rund quite rich ATM, even for a forced motor).
