Was browsing ebay, just wanted some opinions on an item,
Mick Webb's SVO headers, $1225 cats inc, and $30 rough postage = $1255 .. total bill plus around $150-200 fitting at a local exhaust shop. alas $1455 roughly. is that a good buy? Are they worth getting over say Pacey's and some brand name hi flow cats ? I reakon the cheapest quote I got on pacey's and cats was $800 and $550 = $ 1350 so Would it be better to knab some SVO gear!! does anybody know if they will bolt up ok to my 3" system ? " Other than Mick Webb himself " or anything else on the headers, cheers guys. |

I am pretty sure Mich Webb uses HM headers so they are decent quality items, and are fairly well priced seeing it is stainless and comes complete with cats. However you should be able to get some pacemakers a bit cheaper, I picked mine Pacemaker PH4000's for $550 and a set of magnaflow cats for $440, but they aren't stainless either. The SVO's or Pacemakers will both flow enough for pretty much any 5L or even stroker engine, they are both great products.

Nice extractors, Bit pricey though. I would look at some pacies myself at that price.
He had them on sale last month for $960 wich I probably would have paid if I had the money at the time. |

I have SVO headers and exhaust fitted. Full stainless from the heads to the cats and mild from the cats back. Haven't had a drama and recomend his work highly...
Yes they are HM headers, built (bent?) to his specs. When I got mine fitted, Mick said that they are designed to improve low end torque, not high end numbers. So if you're looking for low down grunt and not high speed dyno numbers, they're quite good. However, whilst your driving experience will improve, don't expect massive changes to any dyno readings...

They last longer mainly. Most places will tell you that mild steel headers will only last about 3 years, depending on how you treat the engine.

I had a set of mild steel HM headers on my previous car and they were still going absolutely perfectly 10 years after I had them installed.

Same here, mild steel seems to last for a long time. Personally I dont think stainless is worth the added cost. |

I have heard that mild steel is fine on xorst sytems as long as the car is started and or driven regulary. This stops condensation sitting in your xorst for a long periods of time. ie. weekend driving only. I would think this would ring true for the extractors to a certain point.

Apparently if you have alloy heads then you need Stainless exctractors.
