I have been offered a swap for my 1993 eb2 gli 6cyl 260k's with 12 month reg and real good nick (eb xr-6 cam, redback ex, cold air induct., EF XR RIMS) Goes really well and puts stock 8's(EB-D) to shame, also BA XR'6'S.

For a 1992 eb2 gli 5.0 v8 standard NO REG, with full ghia interior , and door trim(ex power win's) 180k's, with no reg and auto needing att. motor A1.

Providing the car drives ok, after i fix auto, is this ok?? Will a 5.0 use much more fuel then a 6 if driven properly (not thrashing) mainly freeway k's???

This may be a stupid question-sorry- but roughly, IS IT WORTH IT??

I realise that the eb 5.0's were not a power house, but rather a good strong torquey motor with a fantastic exhaust note when a 2.5 twin is fitted. That is basically the only reason I like em.

any opinions guys much appreciated.

If the auto needs work, then it isn't worth it. It's always better to have an 8 but..

yeah I know, but auto's at wreckers with warranty go for like $350....I think its the same auto as the 4.0L...not too sure tho.

I am seriously considering, just love the old 8..addictive sound an stuff.

Although my eb2 6 auto, goes friggin real well....hard. Winds out like a mutha f**k. I'd be sad to see it go.

4L boxes are not the same as the 5Ls, input shaft is different.
5L Autos pop up on ebay every now and again, they arent as rare as the 5L manual conversions.
