hey guys im running a single rail behind a 351 cleveland and ive just crap'ed it out ..."time for another one"
but some people have sugested to go a t5 as they have a quicker 2'nd syncro but mateing it to my belhousing will be an isue, ive already redrilled a toploader bellhousing to suit the single rail but ive been told the bottom bolts will be a problem and they may have to add some slugs what do they mean by slugs and what exactly is done to the bellhousing? the other problem is the input shaft length its 19-20mm longer and only the v8 and later el/ef box's had the shorter shaft would this be corect? |

First of all, V8 T5's are stronger than 6cyl ones but, unless you get a Z-type T5 from Ford racing ordinary V8 T5's are barely stronger than a V8 Single rail.
There are aftermarket T5 gear sets available from the likes of Astro and G-force but they ain't cheap. A Tremec 3550 is likely the better option. They probably mean you need to weld a couple of Lugs to the bellhousing for the bolt holes on the T5. Here's a coupla pics of my ED V8 bell for comparison... {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} |

Dellows does a bellhousing for the conversion. If you use an XF/EA t5 , you will only need a bellhousing and modified rear crossmember to get it to fit. I have one in my XB coupe!
