Hello people,
I have an 98 fairlane V8 of course that is having trouble starting and is now taking longer to fire up . It cranks over easy but just wont firing up straight away. If i crank it for about 8sec then stop and start again it will fire up within a few seconds. Now i have replace the spark plugs, Leads and fuel filter, I am currently waiting of delivery of fuel pump. Now after reading a few articles i am wondering if it could be the map sensor. I do have one spare but off a 6cyl will that be the same as the V8 one, and it there any thing else it could be ? |

Yes i did put fuel in it but i can speak for kingyxr8,lol.
i cant say that i have try turning the key on and off a few times but i have notice that once it has been started in will start quickly agian. Hmm maybe a fuel presure problem hence why i am waiting for fuel pump. Now what about the MAP and MAF sensors will the 6 cyl ones fit the V8????? |

Are you getting a good strong spark? How do the terminals on the coil look?

I had this same problem with my 6cyl EF until I put new injectors and fuel reg in.
It so far started instantly for 12 months. Look at it this way, if your injectors are leaking out. It will partly flood the cylinder. Even if you triple prime (turn key to on 3 times). It still needs to crank over for a few seconds to clear the cylinders of the excess fuel.

I was starting to think maybe the injestors but just want to make sore it could not be anything else.
Is there a way that you can test the injectore first? |

test the fuel rail pressure, that will check the pump and regulator,if ok,clean the injectors,as said before, spark to all plugs.
