Viscous fan in my EDV8 is playing up.
Rather than buy new one I thought I would opt for EL Thermos, Before site crash there were details of Battens installation. Does any one know his details - not in phone book. He had a kit albeit expensive using 4 relays and 2 switches. Someone suggested to scrap the EECIV and install EECV as it has support for thermos - I would think there would be issues with auto trans ECU, harness wiring etc. Any help would be appreciated. Richie.

The images aren't there, well basically www.thepurplecircle.com isn't there, didn't someone pay the bill? Use your members gallery or get one of us to host it for you, I would love to see the AU and Volvo thermos.

eed-250, you say you need a lot of room for the volvo thermos, how thick are they. By that i mean how much room is left between the thermos and the belt system on an EB V8

Can someone post some pictures of the Volvo fans and specs if they can get them.
Ford owns Volvo so using Volvo parts would have to be ok now As long as we don't start wearing a bowls hat.

The Volvo fans install into the i6's with a minimum of fuss, and the 8's with even less. ill get the measurements and CFM stats on them soon,, iv done a few so it only takes me about 40 mints to install on the I6,
including the thermostatic controller and relay circuits. and theyre a pretty flush fit. The 5 litre V8's have a heap more room longditudinally between the radiator and pully setup, thers is a good 4.2 cm clear between the front of the belts, and the rearmost section of the fan.. the hardest part abotu tinstalling them, was getting the damn metal fan off on the 5L's from the "seat of the pants feeling" they feels rediculously powerfull, standing in front of the car, you can feel the air being drawn into the radiator, and from behing the car you can feel the warm breeze all teh way behind the rear wheel's so they definantly do their job, damn Germans, they really know how to make things suck and blow,,,, shoulda met me ex misses

if the volvo fans are so good why did u change to au fans?
i have neva had a problem with my car overheating with the twin setup, they must be good if ford has decided to put them on EVERY model from ef to ba including the v8's, i if your cooling system is in good order with the coprrect size rad and correct coolant ( i recomend redline water wetter ) the twin thermos are fine. hell gary myres runs 1 12" fan for his rad and a samller 8-10" fan for the trans and that does not overheat adn burnouts are hell tough on cooling systems
