Was told by an old bloke at the wreckers a few months ago that the best way to go thermo's on a 93 Nc 5L was to get the thermo's and radiator from an Ef 6, and that the 6 cyl Ef auto radiator is the same size as the Nc 5L's ? Is this true....... is the Nc 5L auto radiator exactly the same size as the Nc 5L auto? Thats my question. If I purchase a complete thermo setup from an Ef including radiator will it bolt straight in and all I have to worry about is sourcing power for the fans?

Get just the fans from an EL and bolt them onto your existing radiator.

If it will all bolt up with no drama's I would be very interested in your offer |

You can use an aftermarket switch. Falcons don't use a switch, they control it via the EEC.
I can turn on thermofan control for some EB-D type EECIV's too. |

Yep, I ran thermos off an EECIV for 12 years. There's only one output (pin41) but that's all you need.

Interesting - so pin 41's output is just dependent on temp ??
Just assuming as there's no databus like the EF/EL's. Funny the pinout's on here say it's not used. I suppose otherwise you could add a relay for A/C control, etc. Was this only in the V8 EECIV, or also for the I6's too??

Whats the difference between the eec from an eb-d and an Nc then? Wouldnt they both have the same eec in them as my Nc is a 93... so about the same age as an eb-d?

Yes, when I say EB-D that includes the fairlane/ltd stuff which is the same.
Pin 41 control is temp and speed related. There's other pins they say aren't used but it doesn't mean they can't be enabled. Six cyl stuff has it too but I'm only concerned with V8 stuff so I haven't really bothered with it. |

Mine is the 8, how hard is it to tap into the eec for the thermo"s?

It's not hard but you need a J3 adaptor(I use a moates quarter horse)and then you need the data locations of the bits to change to enable it.
It will be easier for you to use an external fan controller switch. I believe Jaycar made a good electronic kit for this purpose. |

I have seen a setup with a thermo control with a thermo sensor bolted to the radiator and I believe the controler had a dial to set the temp you wanted the thermo's to kick in. I think the bloke said a local radiator guy got him onto it and it cost about $80 for the setup and the thermo fan on top.
