Hi all, just dropped a 351W into my 92 EB, putting the box in now and ran into a drama, it's a pretty simple problem but it's really bugging me.
Running a standard v8 T5 manual but with a exedy cushioned button clutch, When I put the thrust bearing onto the input shaft the clutch fork seems to have a lot of play (side to side and up and down), I believe those little prongs that sit behind the pivot is worn out and needs replacing, so I guess thats problem one, but my other problem is this bearing. I'm not used to this type of bearing my previous one was a much better fit which slotted in quite nicely the old one kinda of looks like a circle with a small rectangle through it, do you know the one I mean? -0- kinda like that heres a pic of my new thrust bearing Attachment: it just doesn't seem like the right one, doesn't slot in that well and has a few mm of play heres a few more pics of the clutch fork and how it sits in the box Attachment: Attachment: Attachment: Attachment: you can visually see the play in the fork there is also another pic where the end of the fork (cable side) hits the bell housing any help would be greatly appreciated, I know it's something simple like a new fork, just wanted to check with you guys Thanks in advance, Mike |

No problems with that bearing. It'll look like it has a lot of "play" but that's how it works. Once you push the clutch in, the thrust bearing finds it's path regardless. Grease up well to prevent thrust bearing squeak.

Make sure you lube the pivot point too, as well as the spline on the input shaft. I use high temp never-sieze. lightly brush it on the spline though.

just kinda solved my own problem
I was putting the bearing on the wrong side of the fork. Also learnt from the service manager at ford that the clutch fork will stay on that ball pivoting point when there is the pressure from the clutch plate, Thanks for your help fellas, Mike |
