I dont want to loose toomuch bottom end. Any ideas? Firstly, you'll definitely need at least 24lb. Secondly, as mentioned before 200rwkw is about the max you can get out of a 5.0L give or a take a little. That means you may just come short of having your 300fwkw. Best bet then would be a small shot of No2.. If you don't want to lose too much bottom end, then perhaps look at stroking it. With GT40Ps, you'll be right.

For the intake, you can go for the AU explorer if you find one cheap (they flow quite well) or the edelbrock performer for around $1100 would be my pick. Cam is something i'm still undecided on.. I beleive my AUIII GT40P's come with rollers, I'm assuming they'll be 1.6:1... is the TFS1 better suited to 1.6 or 1.7 ? What about the E303? How does this compare to the rest I've seen some awesome articles comparing heads, are there any which compare cams? Something extra which I need to take into consideration is that i'll be running LPG. Grr

297rwhp is the most Ive seen out of a 5L...so thats 216rwkw-ish.
At a dyno day last year. Was the guys from AllFast i mentioned above. Not to bad. Has done 12's down the track too.

that 200rwkw people talk about being the max of the 5L is that like mechanical reasons? or if blown it can go over that?

200rwkw is about the max you can get while still having a decent idle, if you don't mind wild idles and poor low down performance you can get a lot more but most of our cars are daily drivers. Going blowen you can get a lot more power while keeping it streetable, even a stock engine can get around 240rwkw at 10psi. |

Sorry guys but is there any difference between the GT40 or GT40P heads. Also for a complete top end rebuild what the difference in getting a
Crane 2030 and 1.6 Rockers or a Crane 2031 and 1.7 Rockers. Would you reckon just tuning the car with the original ECU worth it after these had been done or should i spend up on getting a new one. Dave |

GT40P's are basically new designs of the GT40's, better combustion, more power and less emissions. 2030 with 1.6's should give you slightly more power with a very small decrease in idle quality. The stock EEC should cope fine with those mods. Lots of people go for chips but its not really needed IMO, my previous engine was basically ported GT40P heads, Cobra intake, similar cam to the 2030/2031, 24lb injectors etc and it ran fine with no EEC mods.

Maybe give them a call? (unless of course thats you ) Thats ment to say GT40P too fellas, sorry.

Gt40ps are on SII AU's and maybe SI not sure of that though.
200rwkw is the most you'll get out of a 5ltr with a decent idle? Your not trying very hard you should be able to easily get 260rwkw and still have a streetable idle. I know a guy who has trickflow heads and manifold and trickflow stg 1 unichip with 2800 stall idles is rocky but not outragous can sit in trafic and not stall doesn't overheat and last time it was dyno'd pulled 255 at the treads with a stock bottom end. Neil I would like to see they dyno graph for that one, I have seen several similar combos pull around 210rwkw, and strokers with that gear pulling 240rwkw. He either had a lot more work done or thats one inaccurate dynon (or they got rwkw and rwhp the wrong way around as that is at least a more realistic figure). |

What trick flow heads ?? There are so many..
I'd say they maybe either Hi ports or R series??? Though I know of engines with this much power..But run close to 10.5 to 1 compression..Cam and good tuneing he gets away with it...with 98 fuel...

{USERNAME} wrote: Does anyone know where i can purchase the trickflow kit for an el 5ltr? I also need a place around melbourne metro to fit it aswell. I am leaning towards this kit rather than buying the gt40 heads and explorer manifold bcoz of the postings in this forum. But anyone who has a trickflow kit on their 5ltr or gt40 etc and has any feedback about it, i would like to hear it b4 i buy.
Thanks Give High Performance World in Parramatta a call 02 96302333. Mick Webb,Jim Mock dunno any others down there. I only have the TFS Twisted Wedge heads and 1.7 rockers on the motor now and last 2 dyno runs are listed below in my signature. Dont have a 1/4 mile time yet.

So do you think it is worth buying the trickflow kit, if im not going to stroke my engine? Or just buy the gt40 heads for $1000 and buy manifold etc? I dont really know which option will work out cheaper, but more effective power wise.
Thanks |
