Get some of these and use 1.7 rockers with your stock cam...

A good combo would be something like an E303 cam, AFR 165 comp ports, your stock manifold and when the time comes and finances allow, start looking at the exhaust side if you have not already done so.
I just like the E303 cam, makes a nice noise, has been proven by the mustang guys over and over, yes its an older cam, and I am sure there is better, but for a daily, you want something that comes on quick and makes a good V8 noise while doing so.

Its already got a full stainless herrod exhaust. Trying to do it as cheap as possible. getting a cam is quite dear

Cams are cheap, heads are pricey by comparison.

Its not not the cost of buying it. Im talking about the labour. half the motor and radiator has to come out. Plus ill need lifter, rockers and rods

Once heads are off . Replacing cam is easy..
Taking radiator out is easy too..

If you go AFR heads make sure they are the new Renegade versions which flow better than the old 185's with the same runner size. They are a re-design of the old 165's.

{USERNAME} wrote: Here's some head flow data. Of course flow data aint the whole story but you can see the trends. AFR 165's are pretty hard to beat, especially the new comp port one they have brought out. My old f@rt eyes can't see the numbers real well and it just goes blurry when I try to enlarge it. Can you post a link to that table please?

Just click on it. It comes up with the same clarity as this lettering.

Thanks mate, I'd tried saving & opening the file & it looked like sheight, just clicking on it worked much better...
Some food for thought there, a wide range of exhaust/intake ratios.

As covered extensively already to not bother with the Street Heat over what you already have. The AU 5.0L was already a fairly optimised combination for its parts, power & rpm range. If you already have a good exhaust with headers, hiflow cats & a good intake then the only other gains will come from a retune or changing internal engine parts.
Changing heads & cam will see a good improvement, but only you can decide if the cost is justified. Using AFR165s or TFS 170cc heads with any of a number of known cam grinds will get you in the 270-310rwhp range, with your standard Explorer intake. Avoid the Edelbrock E-street heads unless you are willing to buy new valvetrain components for them.
